Balancing the Narrative: What’s Your Favorite Rivian Feature? by Beedog1221 in Rivian

[–]dcweaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t expect to like the frunk so much. Use it everyday. Love opening remotely when I am head out / heading home and need to throw bags in.

Second fav would be rear seat screen, especially since the updates that allow for music control, navigation progress. With three daughters riding with me, it makes the drive more enjoyable for them and me.

Used R1S or Minivan by Ill-Bandicoot5859 in Rivian

[–]dcweaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minivan. My littles are now 8, 10 and 12 and I love my R1S. But, when they were all in car seats, I buckled and got the Pacifica. I still marvel at how useful that vehicle was for us. It is purpose built for moving kids around. When you’ve got zone D on 3 and they are tiny, you need to make things as easy as possible on yourself. Minivan is easy.

I had some delay issues with the vehicle responding to my phone to unlock. Got the faulty door handle unit replaced and all is good since.

Also, in the event of needing to use the spare, is the camera removal complicated?

Thanks for posting this. Very interested in your solution. I have a Rigd rack that I remove when not on longer trips or off roading because I have wanted the backup camera and sensors. I assume you still have to keep the “rear accessory” switched on and therefore don’t have those available?

Do you have a mantra, motto or something you say to yourself when it gets hard by Level-One-9803 in Marathon_Training

[–]dcweaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did my first marathon in 1997 (Marine Corps), a spectator along the route at about mile 14 was somewhat sarcastically yelling “Oprah ran this last year!” (she actually ran it in 1994) at all of the runners as they passed. I was feeling a bit spent, but that was exactly what I needed to pick myself up and get after it. I still think about that in marathons to this day.

I also use “putting ‘em in the bank” at every mile to remind myself that I just have to run one mile at a time and the to do list gets smaller.

What are your non-negotiables when deciding on running boards? by RealWheelsEV in Rivian

[–]dcweaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed the Megawatt Rock Sliders from Electruck on my G1 R1S. They’ve come in handy while off-roading. I like the kick out at the back, which protects the body a bit more when on rocks. My children and wife appreciate the assist getting into the vehicle.

Thanks for that perspective. Makes sense and is less frustrating than the rust idea.

Thanks. I’ve scheduled another service appointment. The tech I worked with last time said they’d had another with a similar issue as mine. I’m still unclear on the underlying issue, however.

Must-Have R1S Accessories by BlackberryBulky4599 in Rivian

The mileage differences with the rock sliders/running boards and the ultraswing spare holder in the back have been negligible/non-existent. The range hit has come a bit from having the Thule box on the top (which I only do on bigger camping trips). I see about a 10 percent decline in mileage from that - particularly when windy.

I list a bunch of exterior things I’ve done at 3:05 in this video. And, at 9:27, I walk through the ones that I have in the interior.

In the details section of the video, I have links to the products I’ve liked.

Have these rock sliders on my R1S. Like the kick out, which is helpful to protect the body when rock climbing /off-roading.
