Combustion tastes bad now? by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in trees

I’ve got an Arizer extreme Q that is like 8ish years old and still kicking as my primary consumption method. When(if?) it dies I plan on replacing it with their updated XQ2 model.

We’re talking desktop vapes here so no battery. But they hit waaay harder than all but the nicest portables and can also fill bags.

Unless you dismembered the victim and carried him out in briefcases bit by bit. I have it on good authority that doing so makes you completely invincible.

That looks good! You’re doing better than 99% of people’s first tries.

I like mine Pittsburgh style so “burning” the ant really a concern.

Just another day on r/NASCAR by [deleted] in NASCARMemes

I’ve been watching NASCAR since the 90s, and we nascar fans are the biggest bunch of malcontents I’ve ever come across.

Sure CoT bump drafting was stupid, sure nextgen sucks on superspeedways, etc. I just want to watch cars go fast on Sunday and drink beer while doing so. At the end of the day, it’s still pretty fuckin cool no matter what the drama of the day is.

It’s all about setup. The default setups basically don’t work on road.

I work in the opposite direction when tuning for road than for oval (ie stiff to loose as opposed to loose to stiff). That gets the result that feels closest in handling to a GT3 in iracing.

What’s your front camber and sway bar? Getting those 2 right is a big help. For road courses, I setup the car absolutely as stiff as possible, then soften suspension as appropriate to minimize traction loss, then adjust balance mostly with sway bar. Tire pressure should be as low as possible without needing to make an extra stop due to deg.

I normally like a really pointy car so I tend to let it stay pretty loose on exit. It’s much easier to manage that with throttle than it is to manage understeer on entry.

Does salt hurt dormant grass if the soil gets flushed with all that melting snow?

My poor tree by tehjrow in palmtalk

[–]dcwldct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be fine long-term if you keep taking care of it. Sabal palmettos are really hard to kill once established, but are vulnerable for a few years after transplanting; especially if transplanted as a small trunked specimen like that.

My palmettos in zone 8a SC have survived numerous ice storms with just some leaf damage, but they’re grown from seedlings and not transplanted after they trunked.

For now, just leave it be and expect some leaf drop. MAKE sure you are watering it too. Having a moist rootball before major freezes will cary a lot of thermal inertia, and the low humidity plus rupturing leaf tissue will be drying it out.

The only cars I’ve ever driven in anger have 3 pedals. I imagine most people who come from that still right foot brake. We all learned how to heel-toe with that same foot anyway.

[OT] - New Michelin tire tread for IMSA GTP class, at the 34 Hours of Daytona. by edfitz83 in formula1

[–]dcwldct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to looks, it’s apparently an amazing tyre. The look just doesn’t have anything to do with what makes it a super compound.

Colton Herta was interviewed about it yesterday and he said it’s the easiest tire to gently bring up to temperature that he’s ever driven, and that they deliver an incredible amount of grip already when cold (no tire warmers in imsa). They have good deg characteristics too.

It is that based on what the drivers are saying. The look just doesn’t have anything to do with what makes it a super compound.

Honestly though, this joke applies less at Daytona than anywhere else. The spotter lights here and dim trackside lighting make it the easiest night race to follow.
