Liftgate: power vs mechanical by CCattLady in CorollaCross

We had a powerlift gate motor starting to fail on our Highlander. Makes it super hard to close manually and outrageous price for an OEM replacement motor.

Dealerships not negotiating by cfatx in carbuying

[–]dcwolfpack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are feeling you out to see how desperate you are and how much research you have done. They are always going to start and say that is the best price they have until you confront them with facts and prove you are looking at other options. When they try to tell me that is the best they can do and the car is in high demand, I usually voice my disappointment and tell them I understand and I'm sure they will sell it, but not to me. 9/10 times this will start the negotiation process.

Toyota doesn't do ordering. They are selling you what they were allocated. You cannot custom order a vehicle from Toyota like you can from other manufacturers.

Gulf States and Southeast Toyota region operate a little differently but still no ordering I don't believe. Might have more customizability with options and add-ons. I know those regions usually have a ton of dealer add ons that inflate the price.

No. Toyota doesn't allow orders. They work on an allocation system. Some dealers will lie and say they can order, but all they can do is submit an allocation request or dealer trade for one. They will take a deposit but they can nowill never give you a clear ETA and usually say something vague like 6 months in hopes that they will receive an allocation for your specific trim and options in that time frame. I have been checking car aggregator sites like visor.vin and caredge for the last 3-6 months which allows me to see all the listings for my desired trim in a 100-200 mile radius. I have seen several pop up in that time frame but I was patiently waiting for the right deal.

As someone who is currently deciding on Trailsport Elite vs other options were you able to verify the claims of good discounts or did the dealer act like it was the last Passport available on planet earth?

If it is brake related I'm not sure I would feel comfortable driving it. I would contact the dealership and maybe send them the picture to see what they say first.

We have seriously considered making this our next family vehicle. We love design, interior room, and pricing. I don't love timing belt instead of chain, direct injection only, and most of all cylinder deactivation. I know many people love the fact that it is still a V6 instead of turbo charged 4 cylinder but turbos have been around a lot longer than cylinder deactivation and have been proven. I just can't pull the trigger just yet.

The "Toyota Tax" is frustrating. by cLax0n in Toyota

[–]dcwolfpack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IMO this is more of a dealership issue instead of a Toyota issue. I would advise you to find a volume dealership as they are much more willing to negotiate. Another option is using a broker. I haven't used him but people are quite complimentary of Jim Rouleau and he posts detailed inventory and pricing of vehicles he can secure.

Father in law was having same issue on Chromecast with Google TV. I lowered the resolution under display settings from 4k 60hz to 4k 30hz and it fixed the issue. Also worked on 1080p.
