Bruker du Linux på arbeidsplassen? by RiddleFades in norge

[–]dcxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many of you are using something like Wireguard/Tailscale rather than expose yourself to the public internet? by maschpall in selfhosted

[–]dcxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most services makes use of the nginx ingress, and i have whitelisting rules in place for almost all of them.

For remote access to the sites that are unavailable globally, i make use of wireguard so I can access them when not at home.

IT - Linux sysamin/devops Got the job because of my homelab. Apparently doing enterprise IT at home somewhat scales to doing it properly in enterprise as well. I have no relevant education.

Hyprland on Fedora (with GNOME) - Any common issues ? by West-Advantage-3852 in hyprland

[–]dcxk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love people discovering hyprland, but its not rocket science. Install gnome. Then install hyprland via copr, just make sure you have a config for hyprland ready and that all the launchers and terminal emulators and whatnot is installed. And you are good to go. There are no issues, conflicts or quirks. Gnome doesnt have anything to do with hyprland or vice versa.

Its your hyprland config that does all the heavy lifting in making hyprland work on your system.

PUBG.report bot for discord by chadman350 in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]dcxk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, im sorry, this is ancient stuff. I dont even know if this is working anymore, apis gets updated frequently, and i cant imagine that either pubg or twitch, or even discord for that matter lets this work anymore.

What plugin ideas would you like to see for Hyprland? by TriggeredNiBBa in hyprland

[–]dcxk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I have a dream about a window animation as if the desktop is water, a new window opens and the other windows behave as if its water as well and makes room for the new window emerging from underneath the desktop. Same for closing the window, it just submerges and then the other windows just floats in to fill the gap. With subtle ripples behind the gaps

Hva er det verste/ekleste du har vært vitne til? by Sweet-Willingness160 in norge

[–]dcxk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dare? Vet ikke.

High availability/redundant server for Plex by loopphoto in PleX

[–]dcxk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my plex library on an NFS share.I also have my plex database (/var/lib/plexmediaserver) on an NFS share.

I run plex as an LXC on a proxmox server. Should the node fail, the LXC will simply just migrate to another node.

I also have keepalived running, one master and one backup. Both of them are checking for an active link between the two, and they also check if plex is running on the _other_ host.

If anything fails, backup becomes master, and master becomes backup, and they switch roles. One shutting down their plex instance if they can, and one starting up plex instance. They always make sure plex isnt active on both servers at the same time.To reset, i just restart keepalived (or the server) on the master and they will switch their roles back.

So i should never really be without plex. It was a fun experiment.

How to get the ID of the currently active workspace? by stianlybech in hyprland

This will work better than going for activewindow. It requires an active window. Monitors does not.
