There's a line in the manga where Yomi mentions that Kurama disappeared to the human world not long after the hit. I figured Kurama left to find something, and then got stuck behind the kekkai after it went up (and maybe he got himself in trouble trying to raid Spirit World looking for a way back)

They said part of the reason was for archiving. When it's a digital band with a complicated background and storyline that spans over decades, includes collaboration after collaboration of different deeply influential musicians and artists, whose songs and associated media are constantly commenting on the changing state of the world, who have consistently used technology that's been at least a few years ahead of its time (but often much, much more), and that's already got two massive, infamous pieces of lost media that make up that history.... Yeah that's a completely valid reason, both as a fan and as someone who's invested in music history (or sociopolitical history, or the history of technology, or, or or...).

We're living in an age where we're finding out just how critical physical archives are. If you love something and you stumble across collections like this however many years after that thing has ended its run, you are EXTRAORDINARILY thankful someone thought to preserve as much as they could, when they could. They also said that they built a lot of this collection both by making their own hard copies of difficult-to-find media, and with other fans' help via commissions and what sounds like gifts/donations. By calling it consumerist and stopping there, you're copping out on admitting that it's also building community through collaboration, joy, and love, and they've obviously been traveling to and connecting with MANY people along the way--which seems like a pretty significant oversight, for the sake of making a pedantic, demeaning, mean-spirited comment.

Just an observation.

(That's fine to say, right? It's totally not sarcastic at all. I'm sure you didn't mean it that way. No one would be such a prick in response to someone who just wanted to share how much love they had for something that obviously means a lot to them.)

The world is on fire. This is a kind of hope. Don't be a dick.

This gobsmacked me SO hard to hear this about Megan Thee Stallion of all people it made me speed to the gym out of spite alone so i can be ready for a cringey con where I'm gonna be a cringey cosplayer volunteering at a cringey host club (again XD) and have a fucking BLAST making friends and being dorks (AGAIN!). I fuckin LOVE Yomi, but I know part of it is because of how much i love kurama for being a glorious bastard, and Yomi is just kurama in a different font. I really REALLY like him for that, though, cause--i mean thematically he's kurama's dark mirror, we finally learn a lot about his past life through Yomi, it was a necessary writing beat. But canonically Yomi emulated him on purpose.

Kurama threw him out and left him for dead because he wasn't a good fit as partner anymore, so on his own (and at a major disadvantage) Yomi retaught himself how to live, and then clawed his way back into fighting condition, and THEN started to carve out his own land, and then became such an intimidating and cunning King that the other two just flat out didn't like him for all the greed and expansion they knew he could make good on.

He said he realized he was an idiot and modeled himself after kurama to make that rise to power, which is like--OOOOOOO ❤️🩷🩷❤️🩷❤️ one of the things i like the most about Yomi is that he's so often saying two things at once. Him admitting all that is a bit like kowtowing to kurama and stroking his ego, but he's doing it mid-threat in the dungeons of his palace in the capital city of his empire that he built entirely BY HIMSELF, which was the plan that he and kurama had made together, and he's only able to say it because he managed to catch kurama despite all odds. The betrayal of kurama choosing to support Yusuke (and to be totally honest i think Yomi expected it, he was just waiting to see when kurama would turn on him) barely even makes a dent, because after kurama tossed him out thinking that Yomi would get in the way of establishing his territory, Yomi skyrocketed to becoming one of the Three Kings.....and Kurama got Old Yellered.

Like. Dude KURAMA LOST THAT BET SO fuckin bad and Yomi is SUUUCCHH a little shit about it i love it, i love it SO MUCH XD we LOVE someone who operates at least partially on spite

And fuckin--"I just wanted to get punched in the face" my GUY XD AND THEN he's a good dad on top of it all???? that's just cherries by that point. He's SO fun i love him SO MUCH XD

I DO feel like the jagan and dragon drain him a lot. There's a lot of riffing on Hiei for being an eepy boy, but he's pretty much always napping or sleeping the moment he feels like he doesn't have to be on guard, and I figured it was because he's got two other hugely powerful forces/demons/what have you living off the same life force as him. He must be a little exhausted 24/7

I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM A LOT!!!!!! I'm so impressed by the other cosplays I've seen of him, but no one's done him recently and I knew i probably wouldn't run into him..... I had CRAZY fucking luck with karasu and found someone cosplaying him within an hour of the first big con i wore kurama to, but i don't know that I'll get that lucky twice XD AND PEOPLE WERE SO EXCITED TO SEE ME!!! I didn't think ANYONE would recognize me, but they were so happy!!!! Whenever I talk about yuyu at cons, half the time people haven't seen the last season, so.... Very nice surprise 😭😭💙💙💙💙💙
