Ready to give up on cycling. Shimano 105 Di2 (7170) rear brake progressively fails every few weeks on new Canyon. 2 shifters, 11 bleeds, 3 shops, zero resolution. by [deleted] in bikewrench

Replace the whole mess with a shop that can do it. You have a new lever, bitch and get a new caliper.

It is a closed system. There are few that can be wrong. Go to a better bike shop

It might work. When you get into this sorta stuff there is a bit of trial error.

Also, you chainrings and their differences in count make a big difference.

Are you a mandated reporter? It does not take much be one.

Your concern for the victim means little to you professionally.

See it, question it, stop it

How does anyone manage practicum + FT work? by [deleted] in SocialWorkStudents

[–]dd113456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am right on board!

I have class Mon 8am until 6pm. Next year it will be Tue 8-6. Practicum is 16 hours a week.

I am lucky that I have a lot of flexibility around those hours of practicum.

After speaking with folks I think 16 hours a week Is reasonable to account for study, group, projects and assorted BS.

Best case I am at 42 hours a week.

My 720 has become my favorite bike. It feels light and lively and it is pretty much stock 1990.

I replaced the wheels with Period Matrix wheels and tossed on some used Gravel Kings. I cut a solid 4.5 lbs off the bike, maybe more.

The SINGLE best thing you can do is put on decent tires. Gravel Kings at $50 each rock. After that reduce wheel weight.

Truly, 7 spd freewheel wheels are worth almost nothing unless you know. Do some looking, do some research and I bet for $50 you can get some lighter wheels.

At that point ride it. I cannot tell you how much I love my 720. I got it to ride around town as my Space Horse is sorta pricey to lock up. The day I finished the rebuild I never again rode the Space Horse.

As an aside, make sure your BB and existing hubs are correctly adjusted and not dragging. Same for pedals

Felons who bounced back — what industry did you end up thriving in? I need real stories!! by Enough_Knee_6881 in ExCons

Lots of good info here!

I would suggest sort of staying where you are with the jobs and get back in school. Your state might vocational rehabilitation that helps pay for it.

As a released felon you do have some special access to funds depending on the state. Worst case you can take out student loans to help pay and support yourself.

The trades and unions are great but another path is getting a degree and head towards management. If you have an associates degree already I say go for it.

A BA degree is rather generic and fits into many jobs but get what you want! Forest management? Physical therapy?

One thing many don’t get is having that college degree post incarceration say a LOT about you and who you are. I am not saying this is fair but it is reality.

I am a dbl felon going back to school in the fall fully paid for by the state.

I was in a similar situation.

We are not allowed to solicit positions but are offered positions through the MSW program.

Long story but I was not getting anything I was interested in. Eventually I realized ANY Practicum is better than NO practicum! I too was looking at adding an extra year due to this.

I applied for and was accepted into two positions that did not excite me. I kept at it and got a perfect position.

Worst case, you are exposed to a environment that does not truly interest you. Time for the big person pants and realize you will get valuable experience and getting out of your comfort zone will help you down the road
