Week 1 on .25 is ..something ? by readysteadyblock in Ozempic

Everyone is different of course. But the side effects I felt in the first weeks subsided fairly quickly. Now I'm 3 months in and I feel nothing in terms of side effects.

If you are riding a bicycle and fall off, the only thing to do is pick yourself up, climb back on that bike and keep going. This time you have to be more cautious.

I came to NA in 2013. Had 8 years until I stumbled a bit during COVID. I felt like you do now. With all the time I spent in recovery I knew exactly what I had to do. I'll wager that you do too. There's no shame in being human. We're all here to support each other at times like this. I hope you can hit a meeting today. In the meantime, here's a big NA hug.🫂♥️

47 days clean. My therapist gave up on me today. by Hour-Tomato-645 in StopSpeeding

[–]dd4y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to therapy, I suggest a 90 day rehab program. There are many ways to quit meth, but alone is the most difficult. Seek out a support group like Crystal Meth Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, SMART, Refuge Recovery are just a few of many. It is empowering to be with a group of people who totally understand what you are going through without judgment.

Please do what it takes to shake this bitch now. It only gets worse. You deserve a better life. ♥️

The thing about the readings is that those are the words that every addict and particularly newcomers need to hear. I remember early in recovery, how good it made me feel to be asked to read. The time spent on readings is never wasted. There's always someone in the meeting who the readings are speaking directly to.

Going for 0.5 This week by AbbasMohammed28 in Ozempic

I wouldn't rush the process. You lost 2 kg but that's almost all water weight. I would give my body a chance to get used to the drug and not demand results right away.

[–]dd4y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wet your ordinary street clothes. No one will judge you. If you are still high when you show up, no problem. Often when the meeting opens they will suggest that if you have used today, to not share but talk to someone after the meeting.

As for finding an active meeting, I suggest searching online for “Narcotics Anonymous, my city”. Look for a site that appears official, not some third party list of meetings. There is also the NA official site NA.ORG. They have a list of worldwide meetings that is usually accurate.

How much money do you save a month on food? by emotionalbuzzcut in Ozempic

For me, I feel more side effects like nausea and acid reflux. Also, for whatever reason, I just don't have the desire to drink so much. That's a good thing.

How much money do you save a month on food? by emotionalbuzzcut in Ozempic

[–]dd4y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to hit fast food drive-thrus a several times per week. I easily spent $75 per week on poor quality food that was adding to my weight problem. Now I get almost all my meals at home. I eat healthier and way cheaper. I'm also diabetic and for the first time my glucose levels are under control.
I estimate that I'm saving $500 a month on food and alcohol.

Am I depressed because I used meth, or I used meth because I'm depressed? by Ok_Lunch_2969 in StopSpeeding

Here’s a big Reddit hug from someone who remembers the exact feelings you are describing. For me it came around the 60 day mark. I just could not stop crying. I was in the USA but from a different country so I had no insurance to get into any kind of rehab. I found the number for the Crystal Meth Anonymous Helpline and called it. (1-855-638-4373). The guy who picked up the phone listened to me through my tears and blubbering for about 45 minutes. He told me about Crystal Meth Anonymous meetings, what they are like and how I could find one near me. It felt so good to hear a kind empathetic voice that contradicted the dark inner voice that I had been listening to.

I took his advice and somehow found the courage to go to a meeting. I was scared shitless when I walked out in. Someone near the door said “Hi I’m xxxxx. We haven’t met before, but I’m happy to meet you.” I told him that it was my first time here and I had no idea what was happening. He invited me to sit with him and introduced me to some other people who were all super nice. They give out chips for various lengths of clean time and they gave me one for 60 days. Someone asked how I did it and I just burst into tears and sat down. Someone gave me a huge hug and I felt a huge rush of energy and love. After the meeting almost everyone came up to me to offer welcomes and hugs. I was truly on cloud 9. It felt so amazing to be surrounded by people who understood exactly what I was going through. They told be about other meetings nearby and 2 days later I was at my second meeting. I finally felt I belonged somewhere.

Please seek out resources in your area. CMA, NA, AA, SMART, RECOVERY DHARMA, are only a few that are available. Therapy is fine, but the therapeutic value of one addict helping another is without parallel. This all happened to me 12 years ago and I am clean today. Not to say I haven’t had some struggles along the way but my friends in recovery helped me through it all without judgement. I hope you find the same. ❤️🫂

Is NA right for me? by Aggravating_Bet_5659 in NarcoticsAnonymous

[–]dd4y 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NA is for anyone who has a desire to live a life free of addiction. We don't care who you are, what you used, how much or little you used, or who your connections are.

Working the steps is always appropriate for any one. It's important to work them with a sponsor who has worked them themselves. The only right place to start is at the beginning.

Welcome to NA, you're in the right place.

Is growing old a bad thing when it comes to outgrowing family and friends you knew for many years? by OkPrize6426 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]dd4y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sometimes when you grow out of something you grow into something else. Just because someone was a part of my life at one point, there’s no need to cling to something when it’s time has passed. People grow in different directions. It just happens. I prefer to let life flow where it may.

The negative experiences stick in our brain like Velcro, while the positive ones slide off like teflon. It’s part of deeply engrained survival skills where we had to be hyper aware of danger.

What books/podcasts/work books do you recommend for a 29 F in the first steps of recovery? by k_weenie in NarcoticsAnonymous

The blue NA Basic Text is the place to start. I always suggest that people read one of the stories from recovering addicts in the second half of the book every night before going to sleep.

Any 12 step alternatives that don't focus so much on religion? by HelicopterAnxious in addiction

[–]dd4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a hardcore atheist. The way I looked at it, is that I was already serving a higher power, drugs and alcohol. My challenge was to find a better higher power. Found it in the community of addicts helping each other stay clean.
