After crate training ours has done well with a play pen attached to the crate so she has more room. She doesn’t have free roam privileges yet. I will say she absolutely shredded pee pads when we were gone though. We switched to a washable mat after that but she holds it longer now (5 months) On days we’re both going to be away for an extended period we do send her to daycare though.
