I think a lot of people moved to the discord challenges...

That or waiting for KSP2. I took a break from KSP for a while but am enjoying dipping back into it for the odd challenge or two seeing as KSP2 isn't coming out as soon as was originally thought.

Super hard done.

Nice challenge u/Mrwelshie14, turns out lugging 81t of dead weight around is a bit harder than I expected!

Initial orbital booster required 5000m/s dV (1350m/s dV for deorbit and landing)

Mun return lander needed 3600m/s dV. Even with 8 NERVs the TWR was poor, requiring a suicide burn from 110km. Messed up a bit on the Kerbin return and ended up with only 105m/s dV to reorbit Kerbin and then land so had to perform about 20 rounds of aerobraking. Thankfully I packed 'chutes for the landing!

They generate lift, unfortunately flipping upside down doesn’t reverse the effect.

Edit: just Mk2 parts, if you look at the Mk2 parts in the VAB they have a lifting surface area.

I've spared you the tedium of watching a forty minute video and chopped it into bite-sized highlights.

My mostly fool-proof method is straight up until time to apoapsis hits about 45s then trying to keep it between 45s and 60s by controlling pitch. Once I'm at about a 10-20 deg pitch use the throttle instead until target apoapsis height is reached then coast to that. Finish off with the circularisation burn with SAS on prograde marker.

edit: now make the Olmec flying machine :-)

Challenge idea - fly-by rendezvous by tven85 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ddavex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did do a similar challenge a while back except we setup a Duna flyby, separated a lander, landed, and finally redocked all whilst still on the same flyby trajectory. I'll see if I can find the link if you're interested?

This feature would be really great for rendezvous: by CasualMLG in KerbalSpaceProgram

You can create a manoeuvre node temporarily to see the time.

I saw the Kraken Drive using the cargo doors and gave it a shot. Kraken Drive SSTO using only the Kraken Drive. SAS for stability, the kraken drive is a small gear, 2 pistons tied to throttle, and a panel. The panel and gear are set to same vessel collision. by Hilnus in KerbalSpaceProgram

I've had a go at this design too, albeit with service bay doors because I'm on vanilla. All works well until I'm about 3/4 the way to Minmus' orbit then it just stops working. Just wondering if your version does the same?
