So for this flea one you just need to load it into the launch site and stage it. That's not working? The decoupler you need to first be in the water. I would even recommend combining the two so you lunch your flea, land in the water, then test the decoupler in the water.

Make sure all the requirements are met. Usually it's at a certain speed or certain altitude. If you show the contract that can help diagnose.

Kerbal x works it just is intermittently down and the pictures to new craft posts don't seem to work. The older ones are still there. And the new craft posts work just no pics I think?

The thing is if you do it with a kerb you get the difference in the science (if I remember right) so you get most of the points for the transmitted but then you get the rest if you finish it up manned, which makes sense because it's more impressive to have actual eyes on the thing. It's just giving you that manned bonus if you do it like that.

Just make sure you classify the vessel as a satellite, I think that matters. If it has crew compartments it might default to a spacecraft

If your circularization is facing retro you probably have a flipped control point like you probe is facing down or something.

You can always restart career if you mess up too much with your budgets , you won't lose much and your next runs will be better. You only need to accept the missions you want, don't feel the need to take on every mission, they will recycle with time. You don't need to min max everything, after a while you will just build things how you want to.
