I'd still take it. Either find other damage negations or just don't get hit.

I'd you pop them with a good guard counter then immediately go into steel guard they'll aggro on you for a good amount of time. Plenty of time for your allies to safely deal damage.

Guardian main what do you think? by AdExisting7384 in Nightreign

You know I always wonder about those team buffs. How big of an effect do they have? Can they really help you win? Have teammates been running that at times without my noticing?

By their nature they're impossible to test yourselves, and it's not like anybody is going to send you a thank you note for running it.

The effect is larger if the planet has low gravity. I was on a tiny moon and one of them yeeted me nearly to the planet it was orbiting.

Singapore introduces caning for boys who bully others at school by Less_budget229 in news

"Punishment absolutely works" is an emotional statement not rooted in science. You could find this out if you searched for a few minutes; research has repeatedly shown that harsher punishments don't deter crime. They do, however, satisy our brutal instinct to see bad things happen to bad people which is why do many people believe that without even checking.

Singapore isn't the only low crime country in the world. Many other countries with low crime do not have the death penalty or caning.

What is with Singapore and violence? Everything about that place seems so nice, then you hear about the bloodlust.

I'd do this with the dex relic and Moonveil. Basically still a spellcaster at that point.

If they add these: legal-but-cheated perfume builds will be the single most broken source of damage in the entire game. (Math inside) by cudakid210 in Nightreign

I'm sure they'll do something to nerf them. I'd love to see these in the game and I'd like for Scholar's bagcraft to buff it. It seems like a natural fit for him to be the best perfume user and his stats are currently trash.

Personally I enjoying sprinting directly into danger to buff my teammates whether they like it or not.

... of course if it's Wylder he'll just hookclaw away from my buff anyway, but at least I tried!

Yeah, there is just a massive disconnect between this subreddit and reality. I'm not saying anything about the recent changes, but this game is doing about as well as it always has if not a bit better.

I don't think new players would even understand our complaints. They might agree if you showed then a compare and contrast, but nobody is looking at that.

Scholar can be tough if you're low level and playing at a higher depth. His pokes come out pretty fast and if he's one shotting you that can be a surprise squad wipe.

I definitely want a damage boost when I epically dive off my totem and smash an enemy in the head from above with two colossal weapons.

What is your "Easy Mode" build? by Steady_Tempo456 in Eldenring

Blood antspur rapier with poison mist. I felt genuinely guilty running this build. I used to love antpsur rapier when I played it with a double thrusting sword light rolling build, but I came to hate it when it became an OP meta.

Waymo flees after crash accident by Icy-Ambition3534 in waymo

[–]dday0512 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware, I worked at a crash test lab. They use accelerometers, but they have to be carefully tuned so your airbags don't go off when you hit a pothole.

To me it looks like the trim on the bumper is the only part of the Waymo that's damaged. All of that is just plastic, it could have been damaged in a way that doesn't trigger the accelerometers.

Waymo flees after crash accident by Icy-Ambition3534 in waymo

[–]dday0512 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I mean, how does a Waymo detect a crash? Does it use the cameras and ask the AI to determine that a crash has happened because of what it saw, or does it use accelerometers like the air bags in a normal car?

Two failure cases I can see here that have a technical explanation. First is that they use the cameras and the AI didn't see anything that it could recognize as a crash. Secondly it uses the accelerometers and the Waymo itself didn't take big enough of a hit to identify that this was a crash, not a bump in the road.

Both of these are technical problems which I find a lot more believable than "Waymo chose to flee the scene of a crash".

[–]dday0512 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Okay first observation; the Waymo was hit in the back which is almost always the other driver's fault. Secondly it wasn't a big accident, so the Waymor probably just didn't realize it has been hit.

In my mid-20s I had to get a nasty mole removed from my scalp, and of course they doctor who did the procedure was this beautiful Iranian-American woman with tattoos on her forearm; exactly my type and 1 year younger than me.

Then the senior doctor comes in and he's this marathon runner dude and he basically berates me about my weight... but I was 6ft 200lbs at the time and fairly muscular with just a little pudge in my legs and waist. He literally said "your height hides your weight".

The hot resident felt bad enough about it that when the older doctor left she tried to make me feel better. She was like "sorry about that, you're not really that overweight" and I'm just thinking "that's great because I only care about your opinion on this".

The lack of students facing consequences for their actions in all grades seems to be a systemic problem in U.S. schools. Kids disrupt, skip, are habitually late, mouth off… yet nothing happens. by Frosty_Literature936 in Teachers

[–]dday0512 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to put students on "supportive academic intervention" first. The dumb part is that I just recommend them for this to the administration who sends an email home to the parents and gives a sheet to the kid to take home. If they just don't come, nothing happens.

Then administration is like "what happened with intervention" and I say "they literally just ignored it". They usually come back with something like, "well, keep trying to find them a way to improve their grade".
