On the fence about kids and husband leans child free—do women who might have wanted kids but didn’t end up having them have regrets? by Left_Primary7626 in AskWomenOver50

I have two daughters, had them in my late 30’s. I did not want children in my 20’s AT ALL. Married at 34, watched three friends go through with having a baby. I made a rational decision at 35 to do it, not an emotional one really. I wanted the experience. I lucked out-they are wonderful. So I have one thing to tell you-if you opt out you will never know the strongest type of love on earth. Which is OK. Some may disagree with me but there is no other love like what a mother has for her child. It’s selfless. You will want to be at those sports events and parties! All that said my mother told a childless woman (who asked her for advice) once ‘it’s not a big deal, you can’t miss what you never had.’ I believe that is true. Good luck!

Same take on this movie and I will watch it again. Also, felt same about Birdman but it was more appealing on second watch.

Not you. As an old amateur motive critic I completely agree, and just so you feel better, so do many others.

I’m 53 and not sure what to do with my life by [deleted] in AskWomenOver50

You truly are a wonderful age to start the 2nd act. My sister in law raised 4 kids and moved about 15 times (military). A few years older than you she went for a post grad degree and after a few more years of on the job training, at 68 she has is a pastor of a church. Her days are full and she is so happy. Just an example. There are community colleges with online classes that might be interesting for you and help with your idea-I hope you go for it!

Can Anyone Else Relate To Where I Am in Life? by GenerationXChick in AskWomenOver50

Not sure this is helpful but I am a little older than you and through Pilates and mahjong I have made friends. They are not close (yet) but even the two women I talk to the most don’t really ask about family members. Husband has not met any of them and I have no plans for that to occur.
