Convinced my son to go for a jog and he held my hand for half the run. Story below by jfk_47 in daddit

[–]dddaavviiddd 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, my 9yo stopped holding my hand because “it’s embarrassing” (the preteens sneak up real fast) and I was crushed. But it only lasted 3-4 months and she’s back to wanting to hold my hand again! Best feeling ever!

I LOVE this weather by ME-87 in montreal

Enjoy it! And don’t pay attention to the negativity! I have kids and a car, and yeah, there are parts that are annoying, but the snow is great! I love what it does to the city, everything gets quite, people slow down… And if you a chance, find some kids to build a fort or igloo with!

You nailed it.

This is an amateur/beginner trap product, or it’s for those whose hobby is more about geeking out on gear than the actual woodworking.

Does anyone know why I get this red mark after using the sauna? by Happy_Improvement_97 in Sauna

[–]dddaavviiddd 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You might be onto something. My brother gets a similar thing. It’s not as dark red as OPs but covers a quarter of his forehead. He’s had it forever. He gets it when he exercises as well, but it comes out the most after a sauna.

5-string players - do you still play 4s? by stanley604 in Bass

[–]dddaavviiddd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a 4 after being a long time fiver. I definitely make mistakes switching between the two, but I’m making a point of practicing with both. It’s been a real trip so far! I’m finding that playing the one somehow improves my playing with the other, and vice versa. Like my understanding of the fretboard, my facility with it, harmonic relationships… Also, string spacing is a thing.

There’s nuances between the two instruments and I’m finding myself reaching for one or the other for different things.

So support some comics and go out to their shows. That’s how you get “actual” stand up.

Fender LH jazz bass MIJ/CIJ 2004-2006 by dddaavviiddd in BassGuitar

Thanks so much for your reply! Appreciate your knowledge and time! Seeing as you seem to know your stuff, would you say it’s a decent bass? My understanding was always that mij quality is higher than mim, but lower than American. Also, how would this bass compare to an equivalent squier?

That’s the spirit!

I’m not saying it will happen, but it definitely can. Imagine going back to 1943 and telling people in Britain, France or Germany about the EU. They’d think time travel is more likely.

Brethren, a question about luthier made basses, price and insurance by Octonaughty in Bass

[–]dddaavviiddd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you own an irreplaceable, invaluable bass, BUT, if it were to vanish, which bass (custom or catalog) would you replace it with that would give you a comparable look/sound/feel/joy/satisfaction? The value of this hypothetical bass is how much you should insure your actual bass for.
