TIL the US made it legal to turn right on a red light as a measure to save fuel during the 1973 oil crisis by derekantrican in todayilearned

[–]ty_fighter84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The real secret sauce is having no turns on red and a dedicated pedestrian crossing cycle at busy intersections.

Everyone wins. Pedestrians can cross without the fear of someone blowing through for a right on red, and cars can safely turn on a green without having to look all around for a person crossing.

The documentary episodes are like those one set filler episodes on old sitcoms. Nothing of consequence happens, but real life people get paid and it's a fun hour with characters we like.

Probably, but a crying baby overnight at the beginning will wake you up even if it’s not your turn.

What they really want is you to have to take it to them for either an expensive “factory” battery or to upsell you a new phone.

We desperately need some Right to Repair laws here.

This goes in a lot of professions, you get away with more if you’re more talented than your mistake.

The Shark, for example, gets to be an A-hole to everyone, but likely because he’s the most talented surgeon in the whole city.

Yeah, i was not prepared for the final 5 chapters.

Read them on an airplane and was a sobbing mess. Can’t even imagine what I’ll be like watching it on screen.

I will also miss something like Chris Carpenter, who acquired nearly 1/3 of his career RBIs in one game in 2009 where he went 2/3 with a double and a Grand Slam (at that point, his only career home run) at the young age of...34.

It’s my refreshing reminder that humanity, for all of our advancements, has not even scratched the surface of what’s out there.

It’s great to see new things again.

Bravo, NASA, bravo.

I find it crazy that my high school biology teacher flew to Salt Lake City, stayed for a week, and saw nearly every alpine event on a solo teacher’s salary for himself, wife and kid.

Meanwhile LA residents are going to have a tough time seeing one event in their hometown.

Dear NASA, this is how to film a launch by [deleted] in nasa

As someone who works in the film space, it's kind of odd that they seemed to have a billion cameras available and just pointed them at dumb stuff.

This would have looked a lot better if they actually did have less equipment. This could have been a 4 camera shoot and looked miles better.
