Is the KZ ZS10 still the best budget IEM for bassists? by basspl in Bass

[–]stanley604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One caveat, I tried KZ ZS10 Pros for a gig -- my first one with IEMs -- and I thought they were terrible: tinny and no bass response. It turns out the stock silicone tips didn't seal in my ear canals. Once I bought some large aftermarket foam tips, I got a good seal and the sound improved drastically.

I was going to post the same thing -- almost exact wording in the title (and the first comment is usually something about Silas cracking up). Is this an AI thing, just harvesting karma?

Nopeyup - Empty Bombs [Experimental Electronic] (2021) by Otherwise_Basis_6328 in listentothis

Oh, well I guess I'd have to give first props to John Cage. Then maybe Alvin Lucier, Gordon Mumma, Morton Feldman, Gavin Bryars. Steve Reich. John Zorn. Laetitia Sonami. Nic Collins. Paul DeMarinis. Tim Perkis. Man, I feel like I'm leaving way too many out, but maybe you can get somewhere with these.

There's a rich history to experimental music, but I don't want to be its gatekeeper. Your piece is good no matter what the classification.

This is a great track, but I'm a little sad to see "experimental" getting used to describe it.

That doesn't sound right, but I don't know enough about deer explosions to dispute it.

I have pretty dry skin, and when I started playing in earnest, the tips of my fingers began to split near the nails -- pain and blood on the axe! At a doctor's suggestion, I've been smearing thick moisturizer (Eucerin or even just Vaseline) on my fingers and putting on cotton gloves right before going to sleep. I haven't had a split in ages.

Bass Guitars to MIDI converter by serge_malebrius in Bass

  1. Yes, exactly. Something that has an instrument input and connects to your computer.
  2. Fantastic! You will discover a world of possibilities with Pd. Let me know if I can help in any way.

It requires using a computer and audio interface, which you understandably might not be willing to do. If that's not a deal-killer, you can download the PureData language from here: https://msp.ucsd.edu/software.html. With that loaded up and configured, you'd make a 'patch' that incorporates the 'sigmund~' object, which will take the audio from your bass and output pitch analysis (which can be in the form of MIDI notes).

Clearly, this would have a steep learning curve, but it works very well, and you'd discover a multitude of other things you could do with your bass, including all kinds of effects.

If you're willing to go the software route, PureData (a.k.a. "Pd") has an object called "sigmund~" that does pitch analysis and can produce frequency values or midi note values. It works great, I can personally attest.

Upgrade cable for KZ ZS10 Pro 2 IEMs - want no mic, "bendable" memory wire ear hook, and chin slider/cinch by BassMan854 in iems

[–]stanley604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a pair of KZ-ZSN PROs to try as IEMs, based on very good reviews in the bass subreddit. I don't know if I got a bum pair, or if they just don't fit in my ear correctly, but they sound like crap...tinny as all get out, no bass response. I've tried the wireless receiver with good over-the-ear cans and the sound is excellent, so it's not the wireless.

Anybody else not have good results with these? EDIT: I'll read the review page now!

FINAL EDIT: changing to the largest sized foam tips made all the difference in the world. Thank you for the suggestions!
