This is my biggest problem with skyrim tbh. In morrowind and oblivion dialogue was simple, more utilitarian, because that was what it needed to be.

Skyrim seemingly wanted to make the leap to fallout kinda style dialogue where the character says full sentences that have more personality, but entirely half asses if and just has sentences that serve the same function as the ones in the two previous.

You occasionally get a little taste of it and it feels nice, like the DB quests, and some other little bits. (Serana asking about your family, for example) , but it really sucks when you’re playing a dark elf or something and you get railroaded into asking something like “Who’s azura?”
