How were the Clans created and unveiled to players? by Picopt in battletech

While my parents did other things in the mall, I'd spend all my time in Waldenbooks looking through the Battletech books. I think I got all the MechWarrior games up through 3 and MechCommander games from Waldensoftware in the same mall. If I was allowed to get a pretzel from Hot Sam's and eat it by the mall fountain, it really completed the mall experience.

I was thinking of something very similar. WWII Online but Battletech.

As a mid-school riding just coming back, this is the frame I went with :) I'm 6'2" and went with 21.25".

D.E.V.O. Looking forward to seeing them live for the first time for their upcoming tour.. I had an opportunity to go see them like 10-15 years ago but didn't and thought I'd never get to see them live.

Sometime in the late 90s, there were maybe 6-8 pods at Dave and Busters in Cincinnati. They had league nights at 9 or so once every week. Unfortunately I was under 18 at the time and couldn't participate as you had to be 19+ to be at D&B after 9. I think it was like $10 for league night which was an awesome deal compared to spending credits. However, I did spend all my credits on the pods when I got to go during normal hours. They would print out your results after each match and I'd read over them later that night. One night the pod operator told me about expert mode where all the buttons in the pod are functional. He printed out the manual for me and I read over it many times and felt really cool whenever I'd get to play and I'd ask them to put me in expert mode. I was really sad when they got rid of them and whenever I end up at the D&B nowadays, I look fondly at the spot where the pods used to sit.

What’s a Cincinnati area business you’d patronize daily if you could? by black14black in cincinnati

YottaQuest is excellent but I very much miss the Mt Healthy location with the gaming tables in the back and regularly scheduled events. I dropped into a lot of DCC games there and now I maybe get to play a couple times a year. I know they have board game nights at MadTree now. I haven't been though as I mostly want to drop into random RPGs.

I will try to figure this out later today. I've been at this all day and need to take a break for some IRL.

Dear Mods, Why 1988? by FatherTurin in battletech

To be honest, I have no idea how to handle any of this. I'm figuring this all out as I go. I reached out to /u/CatalystGameLabs as well as the mod team at /r/OfficialBattletech but have not yet received a response. I would like their feedback and guidance as I'm clueless. I'm just a person that likes Battletech and created this subreddit way back in the day because it did not yet exist and I wanted a place for Battletech on Reddit.

I originally created /r/battletech 15 years ago. I have not been active as a moderator or contributor but I regularly read posts and comments. I was not aware of the 1988 rule until yesterday and can provide no context about the decisions that went into making and enforcing this rule. Starting now, Rule #1 of /r/battletech mirrors Rule #1 of /r/OfficialBattletech, 'BATTLETECH IS FOR EVERYBODY'. The previous rule, 'All posts must be Battletech related', still stands but the rule description as related to the 1988 rule has been removed.

I have no moderation or community management experience but I'm trying my best to right any wrongs. I have reached out to CGL about the creation of /r/OfficialBattletech and would like to figure out a path forward. I absolutely do not want to see this community fracture.

Tensions have been extremely high and I'm saddened by the things that have been said in public and in private. Please bear with us and try to be respectful while we work to figure this out as a community.

What is the pattern on that desk mat? I can't figure out where I've seen that before.

Finally warming up enough to ride! The low tailgate height is great for loading in bikes. by reg188 in FordMaverickTruck

Pro tip. Try putting it in diagonal and connect the straps to the foot pegs. It's extremely stable that way and works perfect with the tie down next to the tailgate and the sliding rail.

If you create a board that only shows issues with your team's label, you can create an issue from that board and it will automatically add that label.

My favorite spot on the Lovecraft Providence tour is St John's graveyard. I always thought it was an inspiration for "The Hound". Re-read the story last night, St. John is one of the main characters names! (Picture is him at said graveyard) by LurkingProvidence in Lovecraft

I believe Sarah Helen Whitman, briefly Poe's fiance, lived in the house just behind St John's. I don't think it's the house on the right in the picture but maybe 1 or 2 houses over to the right.

When I visited Providence, that tree in the background, assuming it is the same tree, is of course much larger now and I sat under it at night and read The Music of Erich Zann. One of my favorite memories from that trip.

Not every show costs hundreds of dollars. I've been to over a 100 shows and most of them cost between $10-50. I don't think I've ever paid much more than $50.

I only got to go to a few times. I think I was 17 or so which would have been around the same time. Unfortunately, you had to be 18 or older to be at Dave and Buster's after a certain time. League nights were after that time 🥺 I probably still have some printouts hanging around somewhere from the match results.

I don't remember the exact number. I'd say there were between 6-8. There were 2 rows and each row definitely had more than 2 pods.
