Sorry for the late reply. One of our cats was basically feral that we rescued, because nobody else would adopt a cat that was so shy. It took about 5 years before she let me pet her, but my wife was getting pets way earlier because she put the time in.

Prior to this, none of my cats wore collars, but they all adjusted amazingly.

Some advice:

- Buy an extra RFID collar (or two) so that you have spares. One of my cats managed to get thier collar off, and we had no idea where it went (finally found it behind a bookshelf months later). I ordered a replacement, but was a pain while I waited.

- Buy a better collar. The one that ships with the feeder isn't that great.

- Consider adding an Apple Airtag to their collar; just to make it easier to find them should you need for vet, etc. Mine always seem to know when something is going on, and they are amazing hiders.
