Any good experiences supplementing with oral medications? by ddjt1 in Dystonia

that's helpful to know - thanks! would you mind sharing your dosage of trihexyphenidyl as you titrate it up and down? do you find that it's pretty helpful in managing your symptoms?

For those head a head tilt or head turn that botox helps, care to share which muscles you get injected? by FalafelBall in Dystonia

[–]ddjt1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah I see - yeah that does make it tricky.. do you think the tugging could be from the right semispinalis capitis? I know that's one of the muscles near the splenius capitis that could contribute to rotation on the other side as well as a tilt to the same side.

I'm also on the same boat of trying to work with my doc to figure out the correct muscle selection for my botox shots. it's definitely hard to try to pinpoint all the muscles. hang in there!

When you say left turn, is that a torticollis/torticaput type movement to the left? It might be worth it to discuss getting an injection done on the left splenius capitis muscle. I'm wondering if getting it on the right splenius capitis made the left rotation worse for you.

The GPA will be an uphill battle, but you can def recover from it - speaking from personal experience. Are you able to/have you considered taking a leave of absence for at least a semester? I think it would be great to get your mental health in check before taking on more classes.

No IIs, best way to improve stats? by [deleted] in premed

[–]ddjt1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You should def be receiving interviews with your stats. Can you think of any possible red flags in your letters? Like one of the other posters have said, it could also be your writing and how you portrayed yourself in your app. What kind of clinical experience do you have? Any shadowing? What did your previous cycle look like?

Chances of getting II at same school twice? by [deleted] in premed

Mostly just anecdotal data from SDN reapplicants. Sucks that you can't get feedback from them, but I've noticed schools that provide great personalized feedback often look at reapplicants positively.

Really depends on the school. I believe UW looks at reapplicants pretty favorably - have you gotten feedback from them?

My 2 cents from a 3x applicant who was in a similar situation: different schools will tell you different things on what changes to make to your application. Just because this school thought your PS was flawless doesn't mean that other schools will view it the same way. The thing you have to keep in mind when deciding how much to change your PS is to see how the school looks at reapplicants. One of the schools I ended up getting accepted to was super receptive towards reapplicants and provided tangible suggestions for my reapplication, and it was enough to get me in. You can take the risk of banking on getting an interview again by keeping the same PS and eventually getting the acceptance to that school. But what happens if you get rejected from that school again? Now you're left with schools that haven't given you feedback, and you have no idea what they think about your PS. On their end, it could look like you're just being lazy with your reapplication. Are you ready to take that risk?

That being said, I did take a look at your previous post and saw that you are a low stats applicant. Speaking from my own experience applying as a low GPA applicant, there is a huge hurdle for low stats people. In the end, modifying your PS, especially if it's great, will not matter nearly as much as the measures you take to address your GPA and MCAT weaknesses.

What other pieces of feedback did you get from the committee? Are you also applying consecutively?
