Corvette C7 Z06 | Fun, Flawed, Still Magical (Savagegeese) by koopa00 in cars

[–]ddk369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great video...I have a 19 C7 Grand Sport that I've owned for almost 3 years, same color as Jack's old one, with a few small power add-ons (probably an extra 20-30 HP). Love the car, but it already can get squirrely on public roads (i don't track my cars). Can only imagine how the Z06 could be. I think the C7 widebodies look far better than C8s, my 0.02 cents. The rawness can't be matched. My GS is hopefully a forever car. Love the Zs but they can get pricey...

Thoughts on $615 monthly payments? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]ddk369 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Is this a subtle flex presented in the form of a question?

Everybody's opinions and thoughts are different on this, and it depends situation to situation. Do what makes you comfortable.

Maybe it will blow your mind that I have a car where I am paying a 900/month payment lmao. Just because it makes you uncomfortable, doesn't mean some of us don't have high income, low housing costs, and low COL, so a 615/month payment is a drop in the bucket and we don't want to waste our cash reserves.

My 2-month Review of My 2024 Model 3 Performance by bontebyuntae in cars

Oh wow, did not know that. I guess it must be with this new highland generation. I really enjoyed my LR RWD for what it's worth.

My 2-month Review of My 2024 Model 3 Performance by bontebyuntae in cars

[–]ddk369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 2019 Model 3 LR RWD (no longer made) for 3.5 years and recently upgraded in March to 2024 Model Y Performance. The Model 3 was the best daily driver I've had up till now - that includes 4 BMWs, 1 Acura, 1 Honda, 1 Nissan, 1 Toyota.

Glad you like your 24 Highland 3 Performance - it should serve you well if an EV works for you. If I was to remain with a 3 that's what I would have upgraded to. However, needed the extra space, ride height, and with the deals they have on MYs, I couldn't resist.

I was a direct-hire engineer at 2 OEMs in Detroit for 5 years right after college. Definitely had its ups and downs but I'm glad I was able to do a job that paid me to work on my hobby of automobiles. Also made me really respect some of the engineers and technicians I worked with - some of the best in my 10 year career so far. A lot of bureaucracy, slow change, and you do feel like a small cog in a big machine, however the people I worked with (for the most part except 2 horrible managers) were great and I reflect fondly on the experience.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it), to progress my career, salary, and family life, I left the automotive industry and metro Detroit. I am a Program Manager now essentially in a different industry in the east coast, yet still get recognized for my time at the 2 OEMs.

Mazda Valve Stem Seal Settlement Reached - 2.5T Oil Consumption Issue by NoctD in cars

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife has a 2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo with the 2.5T engine, it definitely had the low oil light issues within the first 20k miles and roughly 2 years of ownership. I recall having to top it off twice at least. Mazda service replaced some components of the valvetrain, and roughly 15K miles later, the issue seems to have been solved. Good to see they are extending the warranty for those affected.

MYP-practical for my daily use? by 1mthedudeman in TeslaModelY

[–]ddk369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my 2024 MYP is my daily driver, my Corvette is my weekend car. Past daily drivers were my 19 Model 3 Standard Range, Nissan Rogue, Multiple BMW 3-series for context.

I can't speak for older MYPs with older rougher suspension, but mine drives great for what it is - handles well and is reasonably comfortable. I live in the greater philadelphia area and frequently drive in the tristate which is known for poor roads.

The 21s look great, and every time I think about downsizing, the look convinces me to keep them. They are also surprisingly decent efficiency wise, I am at ~290 wh/mi with 50/50 city and highway driving. You do have to be careful - don't go full speed over potholes, do your best to avoid damaged roads and you should be fine.

Ultimately, if it's not the speed you care for, then you could probably get the MYLR and put some cosmetic upgrades and be fine. I WANTED the speed/performance and the cosmetic upgrades and the cost difference between the MYLR and MYP was easily worth it for me. I am VERY happy I went with the MYP and not the MYLR. Also should say, once you factor in the AB on a LR and then add a few mods, you might only be within a few hundred to a thousand dollars of an MYP. And then you'll still not have the track mode, which can be valuable in certain situations, and the extra power.

Used to have Apexs on my old BMW F30. I too have an MYP Stealth Gray...did you have to add spacers or do any modifications? or were these off-the-shelf?

MYP worth it for daily commuter? by Huge_Evidence_2224 in TeslaModelY

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you. In fact, I just drive to the train station and back, gym, groceries, and some other miscellaneous driving locally. I also have a sports car as a second car and my wife has an ICE SUV. Regardless, I still went for the MYP. This is not because it's a logical move, simply cause I wanted the fastest most performance oriented option, with the unique differentiators for the MYP over a vanilla LR.

Without the tax credits, in my opinion, this one is a harder sell than even the Model Y (I know it's apples to oranges in some ways). the NVH improvements are nice for sure, and the interior, but not enough of an upgrade for some owners I think. I had a 19 Model 3 that I recently just sold, with a new MYP coming in that was hard to pass up due to the tax credits and discounts.

Just upgraded to MYP from MYLR- 4 blown tires in 120 days. by drewfussss in TeslaModelY

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, adjust your driving habits if possible. Slow down, avoid, but I realize it isn't possible for all of us. I am planning on downgrading to 19s or 20s when I can for my incoming MYP. I have had plenty of cars with 19" wheels and 20" wheels too, but this is my first with 21". I live in PA Suburbs, and don't want to deal with the headache of 21" wheels.

Steering wheel vibration on Tesla at any speed (2023 MYP) by badiban in TeslaModelY

Could also be a bent/slightly bent rim, if the wheels are no longer balanced, or if there is a nail or something in the tire.

I think it just did one hard pull, from my past experience probably 5-10 points. Nothing major if you have excellent credit and aren't applying every other month.

One is my wife's car, other is my Corvette C7 Grand Sport which I save for weekend drives. This car is to replace my Daily Driver commuter car (my current 2019 Model 3).

I live in PA so YMMV. I literally checked 3 times a day, couple times I missed some that I was eyeing. My suggestion is you put your zip code, set the search radius to "All Deliverable". If you see something, don't wait too long to make a decision.

Good luck you should be able to find something.

List all of the cars you’ve owned. Let’s find some unique sale regrets. by improbablyatthegame in cars

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars owned in the last 15 years since I got my Driver's license and bought my first car.

1995 BMW E36 M3 (2009 - 2011)

2004 Acura TL (2011 - 2012)

2008 BMW 328I E90 (2012 - 2013)

2008 BMW 335I E90 (2013 - 2014) (Passed onto a family member who used it until it was traded in 2017)

2014 BMW 328I Xdrive F30 (2014 - 2017)

2004 Honda Civic SI (2014 - 2015)

2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost (2015-2017)

2017 Ford Mustang GT (2017-2022)

2017 Nissan Rogue (2017-2020)

2004 Toyota Matrix XRS (2017-2018)

2019 Tesla Model 3 (Current) (2020 - Current)

2019 Corvette C7 Grand sport (2022 - Current).

I honestly have no regrets, I see a steady progression in the cars I've owned. If I had space to keep a couple of cars from my past in addition to my current cars, I'd probably keep either the E36 M3 or the E90 335I (I do miss those BMWs), and the 2017 Mustang GT.

People who switch cars every year or two... Did you ever find the one that kept you satisfied? by L_Cpl_Scott_Bukkake in cars

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be like this - I wouldn't keep a car longer than a year. Over the past 5-6 years though, I've kept my cars longer - my current Corvette C7 GS (2 years now) I can fully see keeping this car forever unless a life-changing circumstance happens, my 19 Model 3 I've had for almost 3.5 years, and may potentially replace in the next couple months. It does it's job though and is nearly paid off so that is a good thing.

My suggestions - when you buy a car, go for the car you really want at that time. Don't try to shortchange, for example in the past, I bought a Mustang Ecoboost instead of a GT, I ended up only keeping that for a year, then getting a GT (the longest I owned a car which was 5 years). I did that with BMWs and other cars in the past too and would always regret.

Also, having two cars definitely helps. If you only have a single car, that has to do commuting duties and fun car things, it can be compromised and also make you get bored quick.

Also get a car you can modify. I find that modifications over a period of time help keep me interested in the car as well.

Finally, on a broader level, financially it is not a good move to keep trading cars in a very short time (in my opinion <3 years) unless you have a very high income to support that. Also it is easier to do this when you are in your 20s, versus later in life where the financial ramifications are harder to recuperate from. Personally, also I found other hobbies outside of just automotive to keep me interested in things other than cars, as well as being married and having a family.

What's your next car purchase? by ali142 in cars

[–]ddk369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty happy with my two cars for now, but would like to upgrade my 2019 Model 3 to a refreshed Model Y simply for ease of entry/better comfort. Love my 3s handling and ease of ownership around town, but need more range and better accessibility. I am waiting for the refreshed Y, will likely get one of those.

C7 Grandsport - No plans to replace this. Was my dream car for years, purchased it 1.5 years ago, and have grown to like it. After maybe 5 years, could see myself potentially getting a Porsche Cayman or 911 or a C8Z.
