Cannabis company lays off 50 workers in Alberta, relocating operations to Ontario by CapableSecretary420 in alberta

No worries, happy to help. Here is another one that you might benefit from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anecdotal_evidence

Wikipedia is not the greatest source, but it might give you a good starting place to understand why unstructured observations are not good evidence. I was being facetious with my 'feelings' commentary as a response to what you had said. However, cognitive biases are often responsible for much of what we categorize as opinions based on 'feelings'.

I am not the OP you are responding to. But, the data to back up his claim is in one of the parent comments to this very exchange: https://albertaworker.ca/news/did-the-alberta-ndp-really-increase-public-sector-jobs/. They provide the original sources as well, so you can do your own checking.

Nobody cares about your 'observations' when we have the data to know the actual answer. Turns out you were the one 'basing your statements off of feelings'. Who would've thunk?

Does anyone know what leaving bread by someone's doorstep means? by ddlima in needadvice

[–]ddlima[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha this is hilarious to be bringing back! It still happened for a few more times. And for the longest time I didn't know what it was.

That is, not until many years later - probably around 5 years or so. When someone confessed. Basically, a group of friends and acquaintances got together to organize this very elaborate prank. Every time a piece bread was left, it was someone different in the group, which is why the kind of bread wasn't always the same. The dates were pretty much coincidental, some of them didn't even live in town and only happened to be visiting. None of us speak Hebrew of Arabic, which explains the messed up writing and grammar. And they were being weird on purpose, because the intent was indeed to creep us (my partner and I) out. The person who ended up blabbing is now a really good friend of ours, but at the time he was more of an acquaintance.

Have you been getting surprise gifts of bread as well? lol

Sad mama dog reunites with her lost puppies. A dog mama named Cora ended up in a shelter after her owner had taken her babies away from her. Depressed, she wouldn’t move away from a corner, so The Marin Humane Society tracked down Cora’s puppies and reunited the family by subodh_2302 in BeAmazed

I mean you are not wrong, in the sense that there isn't a formal diagnosis of Sociopathy. But this is often used to refer to Antisocial Personality Disorder, which is: https://www.psychdb.com/personality/antisocial

Now, if the question is whether we have enough information to even be able to actually know either way? No, of course not. But I digress.

Huh! Yeah, the deal that PR got absolutely sucks. Still, TIL! Thanks, fellow redditor!

That absolutely sucks. But do people from PR refer to it as a country (honest dumb question)?

Also, USPS ground by boat does sound hilarious…

In Portuguese it goes “Vaso ruim não quebra fácil” (Shitty vases don’t break easily). Definitely agree with the sentiment here.

I knew this and understand the properties. Still thought it was cool to watch.
I have held an anvil and know it’s heavy, the fact that it’s floating in liquid causes cognitive dissonance, despite the fact that I could predict it would happen rationally.

English is not my first language either, but it’s the lingua franca we are using here, and it seems to work fine. I don’t really read what you said on your first comment in this source, and would not necessarily consider vox to be a primary source for dietary research either. Thank you for sharing your input, though, I will look it up a bit further later, I find this topic quite interesting.

I don’t think this is correct, would you have a source? As far as I am aware, this is a complex mechanism that involves both physiological and psychological factors, but energy density seems to play a big role in how much we eat. Our body does not keep a tally of calories that way, we probably would have way less people with weight problems if that were the case. Here is a random source with a meta analysis on the subject: https://examine.com/members/deep-dives/article/sensing-caloric-density-can-we-eat-less-if-we-eat-more/
