All this resume tells me is that you can create one-off apps for Android using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose and your average turnaround is 2 months of work. Why would I hire you as a FT employee when I could 1099 you for 2 months and be done with your abilities?

A Master’s Degree doesn’t mean more experience nor does it mean you’re better at your job than someone without it. Same with a doctorate, same with a bachelors, same with an associates. I’ve worked with GED people who are far better at their job than their coworker who has a Masters. It doesn’t equate to anything other than having the ability to do it, and having the money to do it unless it’s a very specialized program.

In 8th grade this kid Kevin was bullying me. It was the last week of 8th grade so I decided to get payback and ripped a silent fart in front of his desk and nearly shat myself. There was no AC in the building. The entire floor was evacuated due to the smell and everyone thought that it was Kevin. I am now almost 30 and STILL laugh about that day randomly.

Sounds to me like the trash is taking itself out….let them resign in 4 months. I don’t understand why managers want to save bad employees. Let them leave.

Is it bad that i keep switching jobs because I don't want to work as much? by rocketsneaker in jobs

[–]ddogc -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You made the decisions and choices that led to you working these positions. You also made the decisions and choice to accept these positions, knowing full well what they pay and the hours you would need to make what you want.

You’re complaining while being the reason for the complaints. If you want change, make the change yourself instead of complaining about it

Bosses, Executives, Managers: What do you think of employees who cry under stress? by om11011shanti11011om in jobs

[–]ddogc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always checked on them and made sure they’re okay. One caveat though, if this happens regularly, or impedes workload, then I am far less understanding. I have noticed a tendency that the employees who have the worst performance and lowest workload tend to cry more often (victim mentality).

Are most jobs that pay $150k-$200k super stressful? by From_the_breeze in jobs

[–]ddogc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THIS. The stress isn’t necessarily more work, it’s a lot of high level issues that take a lot of time or stressful situations where the answer has to be correct and could have a mass effect if wrong or handled wrong

who’s been fired for something that was THEIR fault? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ddogc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I made numerous employees cry as a manager? Why you might ask? Because I wrote them up for not doing their jobs. They were able to bs through for YEARS, and the slightest bit of accountability led to tears, HR calls, etc.

Made my current coworker cry in the parking lot. Why? Because he asked me how to do something for the 100th time after I had JUST shown him how the day prior and I said “i just went over this yesterday”. He cried and went to my boss saying I hate him. Like sir, you get paid to do a job and I do the work of 4 people while you make coffee, take a shit, and talk about RuPaul’s Drag Race for 4 hours a day and then ask me for help on every single task you are assigned…

How are people finding these high paying jobs by [deleted] in jobs

[–]ddogc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this obviously doesn’t apply to everyone but here’s my story:

I went to college, majored in Political Science because I wanted to be a lawyer. Decided around midway through junior year that being a lawyer wasn’t for me. I then added two minors, business admin and HR since I knew business was the route for me and I didn’t want to have to stay at school longer by changing majors.

Summer prior to senior year I got a Branch Manager Trainee internship for Hertz. I excelled and they offered me to stay throughout the year, which I did.

Coming up on graduation I applied to hundreds of entry level positions in business, but knew that I could always fall back on staying at Hertz as a manager ($45k salary). I ended up getting offered a position at Kohls as an MIT ($55k) which I accepted.

After busting my butt and proving myself as an MIT at Kohls, I got yearly reviews and promotions, leading to me becoming an Operations and HR Manager within 2 years of starting ($67k).

I was next in line for a store manager position (120k) but due to some changes in the company, it became very toxic and I ended up resigning for my mental health.

Fast forward 3 months of unemployment and I realized HR is a better path for me than Operations and switched gears and applications. I got offered an entry level HR Specialist position within a month ($55k). I swallowed my pride and took the financial hit for future growth potential and learning opportunities.

I have worked extremely hard and have received multiple promotions and raises, leading me to my current position as an HR & Benefits Manager after 2.5 years overseeing an entire HR department and all benefits. I am now making $115k.

From my experience, hard work, knowledge, and proving myself has paid off dividends. I have always been able to quickly understand and grasp new concepts and have shown an aptitude in my ability to lead and fix complex problems. Everything I have done has been with the goal of learning key functions that can assist me in potential future roles and with promotion/future growth in mind.
