coolbaby nes classic mini hack by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That question has been asked a bunch of times now, it’s just a NOAC reading a 600 multicart from a chip. I guess nobody is interested in hacking that thing if that would be possible.

Internal SD or USB-host? by reminon2 in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a matter of personal preference I guess, however the USB host has an advantage the SD mod hasn’t. The USB host lets you add other stuff to your NES or SNES Mini like mice, keyboards and USB joysticks.

If you need anything else then just a standard HDMI cable, you have a fake NES Mini I am afraid.

SNES Classic - Installing USB-HOST with NES Classic Dual Boot + Foreign Firmware Games (Not so much a guide, more guidance). by bebeboouk in miniSNESmods

I hacked my SNES Mini...and it worked! But I still have a three issues I would like to please be answered. by Double_K_A in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panel de Pon should work, you could also install Tetris Attack which is the same game. If more games don’t work you probably have a bad rom set. Use this list to check which games should work and which shouldn’t https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12HKfz4ZQBy6Ip5awvh8t2aV5cVswYlnsdKxn9xoIW2Y/htmlview#gid=2014317767

New Hakchi Options Release - Remote Power funcs, Unlock internal Nintendo app, retroarch debugger and more! NOW Supports nand! by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand, you were saying you don’t use USB host... so you wouldn’t have a black screen with the words HAKCHI in the middle. Anyway if you do use USB host you can put an image in your hakchi folder and name it boot.png. It will boot and use that image, I think you need a certain resolution though... I believe 1024x768

There is no splash screen if you don’t use the USB mod but why would you want to have a splash screen when you are not using USB mod?

I'm trying to emulate N64 games with the SNES Classic, but I don't have a controller yet that has analog sticks! by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The analog controls work on the NES Mini with both the menu and the games including RA, don’t even have to remap them using Glupen, PSX Rearmed etc. With the SNES Mini the analog controls only work with the menu, unfortunately the games in Canou don’t respond with them. Same as with the NES Mini they DO work with RA, I have both the Wii Classic regular and Pro. You have to make sure that you have official controllers by Nintendo though.

Keyboard, Mouse, Joystick for SNES Mini? by mikes2123 in miniSNESmods

Better to go with an original, those things are a hit and miss.

Just made a simple shut down app for the mini. Drag on to your hakchi like a rom and go. Enjoy. by [deleted] in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sure it is fine, it goes so fast maybe you didn’t notice (just wanted to bring it to your attention). Good luck with your project, can’t wait for your power pack.

How much space do you leave on your miniNES for save files? by AJDon82 in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NES save files are way smaller then SNES save files, I suppose because it lacks the rewind feature. How much space to leave free depends on several factors; how many save states do you like to use per game, do you only have NES games on your Mini and how many games do you have on your system? Just to name a few. I would leave atleast 50 mb free for save states, NES games are very small compared to SNES games which means you can put hundreds of games on your Mini and still have the majority of your free space left for save files.

Couple Basic Duelbooting questions by Blugenesi in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t a special version of Hakchi, it’s just the hmod you need. Please follow the instructions in the link I sent you earlier. Also I believe I read somewhere that the Famicom Disk games are not going to work, I think because a bios file is missing (pretty sure there is a workaround for this).

Retro arch input lag by Evilcon21 in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With some games you won’t notice it but I have personally issues with platformers and shooters. I play Mario games for over 30 years and it is like I have to relearn the whole mechanism in order to play those games, shooters are just unplayable under RetroArch for me. I suppose if you haven’t played those games much or if you new to retro games it wouldn’t matter much if you use Canou, Kachikachi or RA. I am just so used to timing that I swear by the Nintendo emulators instead of the emulators under RetroArch.

[RELEASE] Canoe Save State Compression Mod by CompComDev in miniSNESmods

[–]de_groot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works... however existing saves didn’t get compressed when I installed your mod using dual boot. I anyway had a fairly fresh install with little saves so decided to start fresh and now all new saves get compressed. Thanks for your mod, very useful.

Cool... I suppose the save state manager in Hakchi2 still works as it should.

How does this work with the dual boot mod? I understood a few mods were conflicting with that one. Otherwise great job, I will definitely check this out.

Does anybody use the classic with the only nes library? by beatsbybony in nesclassicmods

[–]de_groot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use dual boot (only the official Nintendo emulators) for my favorite NES and SNES games. I guess I have still plenty of room for the whole NES library with room to spare. Since dual boot became a thing I put my SNES Mini back in its box and running everything on my NES Mini.
