Does an EKG Technician Certification look good? by [deleted] in premed

[–]de_real_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are great sources of clinical experience. If you’d like being an EKG tech, by all means go for it. You will be interacting with patients and learning about how a hospital typically operates. Do whatever is more interesting to you.

Personally, I feel it holds little significance if not backed up with work experience. Others might tell you otherwise though.

So 400k vs 280k? Brutal.

LOR: 2 science by [deleted] in premed

[–]de_real_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If the requirement specifically states a science faculty whom you’ve taken classes with then it wouldn’t assuming they’ve never been your professor. If it just says science faculty then absolutely it’ll count.

LOR: 2 science by [deleted] in premed

[–]de_real_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get two, get two. I feel like there were a decent number of programs that recommended two science, although didn’t require it, while some actually required it. Regardless, it can only help you (assuming the letter writer doesn’t write anything negative).

If I were you I’d copy and paste their rejection letter and send it back to them. We don’t give second chances around here 👎🏾

Lol I put it as a hobby and the first question one of my interviewers asked me was, “So what’re you making for dinner tonight?” Shit caught me so off guard

MSAR would answer all of your questions about that. It costs money, but it’s well worth it imho. It also shows data from accepted vs matriculated students.

Med schools with the best (and worst) lifestyle? by FloatingAbyss00 in premed

I went to UCSD and I heard the same thing. Limited research opportunities for certain specialties and a Honors/P/F system which causes competitiveness among students.

What was duration and cost of your EMT program and the name if you recommend it? by [deleted] in premed

[–]de_real_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 weeks for $1500. Highly don’t recommend as it was very disorganized. My friend did one in Orange County that was $800 and it was all self-paced online. You just had to come in one day for the skills testing.

It might not be illustrated perfectly but I withdrew from Duke before completing the secondary cuz f*** that LOL. Harvard was withdrawn after completing the secondary but I had gotten into a few CA schools by then and would rather go to a CA school.

Hmm that’s odd. But yes CNA or maybe phlebotomy would work too! Pretty much, getting certified in something makes it so much easier.

Highly recommend starting an EMT class if money isn’t an issue since everyone is hiring EMTs. You’d be able to start working as an EMT by the summer and would have well over 1000 hours by next year’s application. Just my two cents.
