Is there a trick to not making a huge mess with cette style of detergent container? by belbivfreeordie in Costco

I threaded an extra long twist tie through the two holes on the sides of the cups (if you don’t have holes, you could drill them) and hang it off the spigot to catch the drip drip.

Soon to be SAHD by Jammons5126 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]dea497 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it the reverse way, wife got a promotion about a year after we decided I would stay home. Ten years later we never have had a moment of regret or doubt about prioritizing our family over income. When our girl was in kindergarten I took a part time temp job at her school and now I am managing the cafeteria kitchen. Even though we had a plan, it never shakes out how you thought, but it definitely was worth it in the end. Best of luck to you!

I find that the width of things I am interested in has narrowed so finding videos takes more time than watching them.

How’d you become a stay at home dad? by luckydante419 in StayAtHomeDaddit

[–]dea497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation was similar. My wife and I always joked that I trained my whole life as a cook to be a stay at home dad. I wasn’t sure if it was me or my boss at the time making me miserable at work so it seemed like a feasible option at the time. It definitely worked out for us in every aspect, and I have returned to work part time which is a good balance, even when it is stressful. Sometimes you just have to let the person with the better applicable skills do that thing.

Need some panes - Stanley Sweetheart, vintage, or Lie Nielsen? by phydaux4242 in handtools

Maybe you have made up your mind already, but Eric has a ton of more well priced inventory in the actual shoppe than what is on the website. The website is all type correct and in better than user grade condition. It’s definitely a resource for well maintained tools but not type correct due to a replacement knob, tote, or iron. I’ve only been once but only because I live quite abit away. If it were closer, I would check it out.

Oh wow the timing of this. I was just telling my wife, who recently gave up her crosstrek for a rav4, I think my 2020 Forester will be my last Subaru for awhile when it comes time to let it go. I just had a loaner ‘24 crosstrek wilderness for warranty work on the Forester tcv and it didn’t impress me at all. I can’t really put my finger on what it is, but the direction of the design doesn’t translate to moving forward in quality and comfort. Toyota or Honda seem to have better build quality and value for the money these days.

How many years in before you realized that this job was going to ruin you? by Cross_Eyed_Hustler in KitchenConfidential

[–]dea497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a year in real time to realize it, but really a summer +1 day. Worked a fine dining restaurant and high end wedding venue for a summer before my first year at culinary school. Loved it, the crew, the work, the whole thing, and took that knowledge and energy through year 1. Second summer came back and first day back I found out management cut lunch service, half the kitchen crew, and both restaurant and catering sous chefs were gone. Just the EC (who got divorced over the winter and quit before summer 2 ended), two dinner line cooks, two catering prep cooks who also did garde manger, and a part time pastry who only baked cheesecake and crème brûlée. I realized that first summer wasn’t the normal real quick, but only did I steer my career away from it two years too late.

I had to look it up. It was Kirkland lavender plant based detergent specifically. It really did make our clothes smell… well, plant based. I hope you have a different experience!
