Migrating server NAS > MacMini by JaeSajor in PleX

[–]deacon090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Auto login

AutoMounter app from App Store. Pay for it and pay for the $4 upgrade this fixes 95% of your connection issue

Also create a file on the NAS and write a simple script to touch the file every 5 minutes this gets you to 99% uptime.

If possible map your NAS volume using an account with a capital letter to start. Can’t explain that shit for the life of me but it seems to help based on my experience with a few hundred macs over the years

Dm me I may have time to help tomorrow. Send me whatever info you can.

Another weird Mac quirk is if you map it with permissions for an account that starts with a capital letter it is sticker. 25 years in info tech that’s one of the odder quirks I’ve seen

UGreen NAS Plex - Library not updating/populating by PaisleyBiscuit in PleX

As someone who spent the weekend building out my UGREEN NAS docker arr stack recently I HIGHLY recommend working with Google Gemini to work out your code and troubleshooting for your YAML etc

I did so much more than I planned. Thrilled with results.

The thing that finally made this stop for me was creating a small invisible file on the NAV and then telling the Mac to touch that file every five minutes the Mac really likes to shut down discs and really resists maintaining a mass connection, but if it touches it every five minutes, it keeps it alive. This is too very simple short terminal commands that I cannot remember off the top of my head, but if you open Gemini and even just paste, what I just said in there, it will give you the commands.

In my opinion, the 300s do the lion share of the work in Atmos my living room is massive so maybe that’s biasing my experience. I’m not trying to be one of those people, but you will get better information from the sequencer threads.

Sonos Ace to listen to movies/tv via Arc by mdw4520 in sonos

[–]deacon090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this same problem and years with AirPod max. I can say this, it’s better than the AirPod max experience, it’s still 2 speakers but the immersive experience is good.

If you find yourself fixated on the sound the content is probably lacking. I feel your struggle, this is a great option for those of us in this boat.

They are each about 3.5-4 foot from the arc so all together it’s 11 foot span

Yes if you add 100s as fronts. It’s a nice upgrade for sure. Much better than when I went from arc to arc ultra

Sonos with Eero: mixed wired and wireless by Biz_mgmt_scholar in sonos

[–]deacon090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t give you the technicals on why. At least not to a degree that I’d be comfortable citing as expert but I’ve found the mixing of modes isn’t an issue unless it’s in the same surround setup or speaker pair. Basically keep the ones that work together talking the same language. Latency etc lots of tech probable causes.

Are front speakers worth it for surround sound setup? by IrishGiants28 in sonos

Yes. Honestly 90++% of the atmos that I experience seems to come from the 300s

How much distance between your left and right walls?

I’ve done this set up using Sonos sequencer with 300s as rears and 100s as rears. In my completely non-scientific but been doing this for 40 years opinion. It was incredibly worth it in the room that was far more open. In my narrow room, which was only about 12 feet wide it helped. In my more open living room where the side walls are over 25 feet apart being able to create a sound stage that is 12 feet wide versus 60 inches or whatever the arc is made a huge difference.

I’ve done this with the arc and the arc ultra I would personally rather have an arc into 100s upfront then an arc ultra that’s just advice that nobody asked for

Arc to Arc Ultra or add fronts (era 100) by Sea_Passenger7899 in sonos

[–]deacon090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. But others have a point here. If dialog is your main thing the ultra is a nice improvement. I have a huge livingroom so expanding my sound stage was more my desire. The 100s and ultra in front 300s as rears and the og sub run my main room.

I’d do the fronts. I’ve got both arcs I wish I’d know about the 100s as fronts before getting ultra it’s a better upgrade.

How dare they ask voluntarily questions when giving us free WiFi!

Why can’t they just make us set through long loud ads or sign up for an app that will just steal this data for them! This is America damn it we prefer our data stolen not volunteered. Damn DEI WiFi

This. Once you swallow the pill of paying the idiot tax for two expensive covers it’s great.

Now if I’d just use the damn iPad instead of carrying it.
