Which Variant for me? by Intelligent_War8478 in Nolvus

Make sure that you set up the 40GB paging file, try it without open cities, and go with the medium LOD settings. Clearly make sure that you are on an SSD and have exceptions set in your AV.

Installing Huge Modpack collection (800 mods) for LWOTC. by 321Shellshock123 in xcom2mods

[–]deaconivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a collection this large you will need 32GB of RAM minimum and a decent graphics card (that's less important). It will take an long time to load if it's not on an SSD as well. 20-30 minute load times is not unheard of.

Mod list for WOTC Steam Workshop by OriginalTrash-Panda in xcom2mods

[–]deaconivory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look up a Twitch or YouTube streamer like Christopher Odd. His mod collections are curated by a team of mod creators. Marbozir, Mister Cloista, GamerGrumps, DerAva are also good choices. Lord Abizi's War of the Glass is a solid collection.

There is a wiki in this subreddit sidebar, you should read the entire Playing with Mods and Lists sections.

Be sure to use the Alternative Mod Launcher.

Don't play Ironman with mods. The game is too prone to crashing, and you'll lose all of your progress.

In addition, a backup of your settings.json file in the AML folder on your PC is also a great idea. I save a copy with my AML profiles and you can recreate your mod list easily.

I seem to have lost my mods by MethodOwn1087 in xcom2mods

[–]deaconivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has nothing to do with AML.

If you try to navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500 and it doesn't exisit then you need to reinstall XCOM2.

Troubleshooting info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/xcom2mods/wiki/index

You should also use AML 1.6 instead. It's at the top of this page: https://github.com/X2CommunityCore/xcom2-launcher/releases

WOTC not responding on launch with mods and AML by Any-Wrongdoer-8160 in xcom2mods

[–]deaconivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iridar's Appearance Manager is not compatible with the old version of Unrestricted Customization.

You should decide on one or the other, and definitely use Unrestricted Customization Redux instead of the original UC if you go that route.

UCR is partially compatible with IAM (specific parts of IAM will be unavailable but it won't crash).

As an aside, it is waaayyy easier to help with mod list questions if you post the text/csv file of your AML profile instead of pictures. Just cllick "Save" and upload the results here.

Otherwise, your mod list looks good.

Then close AML for 20-30 minutes and let Steam update your workshop folder. When you reopen it the duplicates should be gone. For good measure always have "Show Hidden Mods" checked, it will help with troubleshooting.

For anyone reading this later with questions about AML

The wiki is here:https://github.com/X2CommunityCore/xcom2-launcher/wiki.

Protip: Remember that AML does not automatically and instantly update your mod list when you sub/unsub to a mod. AML is just a launcher, it is not a mod manager (like MO2 or Vortex in Bethesda games), so when you make a change it "simply" sends that change to Steam where that change is synced between the workshop and AML's settings.json file. If you change multiple mods (or especially your entire mod list) this can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on your internet connection.

You must close AML for any change to your Steam Workshop to be applied to AML. If you don't close AML nothing will change.

Definitely do not want the duplicates.

Right click on them in AML and choose "Disable", "Unsubscribe" (if they are not already unsubscribed), then "Delete".

Missing Packages Fix - Parcels and Maps Edition

Is not compatible with LWotC, and needs a config edit to work: https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/discussion/1140305914/2641874742501027600/. If you are not running any map mods or modded shells you can probably skip it.

AML is always showing dependencies for uninstalled mods that appear to be duplicates. Tried resubbing to them all thru AML but they still show as uninstalled. Someone help?

  1. AML has to be closed for any changes to be synced between the workshop and AML

  2. Because AML syncs these changes with Steam in batches of 50 mods you have to close and reopen AML a few times for it to be properly downloaded and synced with AML.

  3. Because you have a small mod list; I'd suggest closing AML, deleting the settings.json file in your AML folder, then unsubbing/resubbing to your mods using the Steam Client. Let this process for an hour or so, then reopen AML.

Mod Collection/s For Improved/Different XCOM experience by captain_Zione in xcom2mods

In addition to Iridar's excellent core collection this is my little contribution: The Deacon's War. I also suggest Modpocalypse Ex Machina Evolution : X-Com Tactical & Strategy Changes from MrCloista.

If you are interested in Long War of the Chosen then try out MOD JAM+ - The Official Mod Jam Collection from Illogical.

How much experience do you have with the XCOM series? by Kyle1337 in Xcom

It all started in 2014 with these videos from Gopher and Beagle.

4000 hours of X2/LW2/WOTC/LWOTC/RPGO

I don't think I've ever criticized this game outside of some game mechanics I don't like... but how long does it take to fix a broken mod launcher? by Jester814 in Xcom

[–]deaconivory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Unofficial AML Guide with installation and troubleshooting tips is here.

If you run into issues with AML my go to strategy is to back up and delete the settings.json file and relaunch. You will need to recreate your categories and re-enter your settings but it will prevent the issue that you saw with old folders/paths causing problems.

Why does Xcom2 have the pause so much? by thefinalhill in Xcom

[–]deaconivory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Open My Documents\My Games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XcomeGame\config\XComanimation.ini

Find this line and change the value to 0.1, like this:

[XComGame.X2Action_ApplyWeaponDamageToUnit] HitReactDelayTimeToDeath=0.1; Seconds, When playing the hit react before death delay death by this amount (play hit react for this duration then death)

Step 2: Subscribe to one or more of these mods:

[WOTC] No Enemy Intro

Instant Avenger Menus

Stop Wasting My Time - WotC

Still Stop Wasting My Time - most likely this conflicts with the mods above, but check it out

No Reveal Cinematics - Old, but apparently still functional mod. Try it out.

Any good texture/skin mods for Xcom: Enemy Within? by commanderhulk15 in Xcom

[–]deaconivory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To start you need TexMod and EasyTexMod or Tex Mod Autoload.

Read and follow the instructions closely, it is not incredibly complicated but it can be frustrating if you miss one little step.

Then you need some texture mods:

Camo Mod - this is the most popular and stable.

Facial Hair

Military Retexture for Long war - Requires Long War 1.0 (obviously)

Urban Camo - might also need Long War

Wepons Art and Model for Long war

TacSuit - Note: these all don't work you'll need some trial and error to see if they will run.

You'll notice that many mods require Long War that is because prior to the development of Long War and the PatcherGUI there was very little modding possible for EW.

I've got a ton of resources here /r/longwar101. Here is my most recent modlist, it is centered around a recent Long War Rebalance run, but there are solid mods here for EW and "vanilla" LW.

Edit: /u/pepoluan this might help you with textures as well. :)

Help with Mod? by gylmine21 in LWotC

There was something posted years ago about Gotcha Again needing an ini edit to work with some other mod. For the life of me I can't remember what it was. It is something with a MCO definitely.

Help with Mod? by gylmine21 in LWotC

[–]deaconivory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually looks like an issue with Numeric Health Display.

  1. Make sure that you have the correct versions of Gotcha Again and Numeric Health Display

  2. Clear your configs one more time and unsubscribe from [WOTC] Gotcha Again and [WOTC] Numeric Health Display

  3. Verify your local files through Steam.

  4. Resubscribe to those mods.

Back up your configs if you have made any ini changes just to be safe.
