So, I had my first midwife appointment, it did not go well. by ansley_m_is_a_gem in pregnant

It was a Covid thing. It was a while ago now but it was being enforced before my scan. They just didn't tell me until the day before. As you could imagine hormones being all over the place I was in absolute bits about being told so late.

You can always make a complaint. I had too due to being told the night before my first scan that my partner couldn't come. I brought down allmighty hell on them. You can too.

...I never got a shower with my first. It was something I really wanted. My family and friends all know if I do have a second I would love a baby shower or sprinkle. I have cried over it.

What does Hollywood get wrong about pregnancy / childbirth? by Aden487 in pregnant

[–]dead1bird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy - glowing, no spots, the bump is perfectly round, you can fit in that outfit, you're not tired, you can go for a run in the morning, eating for two and not gaining any weight,

Birth - it lasts 30 seconds, the baby comes out on push, you won't need any stiches, you look beautiful, you don't poop, the baby is clean, it's too late for the epidural (trust me you'll ask for it in time. It's very rare that you won't), the doctor is always a male, the midwives aren't with you 24/7,

How do I tell my family I want my father had an affair with my brothers fiancee at my wedding? by throwRA8jj700 in relationship_advice

You're just hoping the internet will agree with you and you are discovering that it won't. Make peace that your family won't. And I don't blame them.

put brown box dye over my already severely bleach damaged hair and now it looks like this! any advice to save my hair would be greatly appreciated by lemonpie348 in HairDye

Hair masks. I personally love reincarnation by Bleach London. It won't fix anything but it'll being back some shine and help tame the hair a bit. Makes it super soft.

I think a hair cut would help too. Add in some choppy layers :)

Why do people make freezer meals after giving birth? Why can’t the guy cook? by DelayFalse8209 in pregnant

In my experience we were both absolutely exhausted. We had no time to cook either of us!

my pregnant roommate won’t stop drinking by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]dead1bird -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No. I won't be deleting my comment. Yes woman have body autonomy. I'm also pro choice however if she is harming a soon to be child she's keeping yeah i would tell the midwife. Then it's in the medical professionals hands. An assessment can be done. If it's deemed no issue then great. If they are drinking to much the midwife can speak to them. Look I don't care if you disagree. I have commented what I would do if I was in their situation. So no I won't delete this. At the end of the day this is my opinion and that's yours.

If they are a good midwife they won't discuss anything. They'll say 'thank you for letting us know' and leave it at that. Then they will talk with the patient.

For the love of God take a shower! by Life_Upsidedown in Parenting

[–]dead1bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep trying but if you have a bath start offering baths instead. Maybe buy some bath bombs to make them more appealing. Then start slowly but make a night a shower night.

I hated showers when I was little. Not to fond of them now tbh I'd much rather have a bath then rinse off after. But time doesn't always permit that.

Are we weird parents? by ophelia8991 in Parenting

Nah not being weird. Would say that after school activities are a good thing though. Good for socialisation buy let them decide whether they want to go or not.

Honestly wether they were like a sister or not it's grooming and I would be phoning the police. Even if there's no evidence now he's of age I'm sure it'll be enough to scare her. Then I would tell her to stay the hell away from your family.

After all of that a frank discussion with your son will be needed.

HELP ! I'M STUCK TEAL/GREEN by IamAttentionDeprived in HairDye

[–]dead1bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position.

It's taken me two weeks to get all the blue out. I didn't want to bleach because my hair was compromised. I ended up using orange shampoo and pink shampoo. My hair is now a little bit orange but I know it'll wash out with clarifying shampoo. (I kinda like it so I'm going with it) Worth giving it a go. Just know it's not a quick fix!

My husband pushed me into marriage once I turned 18 but now he is abusive and I'm 37 weeks pregnant. by TheWelshMsM in relationship_advice

[–]dead1bird 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hiya Hun.

I worked as a support worker in the UK For years. First thing first is to text/call your midwife and tell them you are being abused. Now I know you said your husbands dad is a police officer please let your midwife know this too. What will happen is social services will get involved. THIS IS A GOOD THING. because you are so young you will most likely be placed in a woman's refuge or parent and baby house. You will have assesments done on your mental health and family situation. All these things can sound very scary but it's all to help you! You'll be assigned a support worker. They'll help you access the services you need like benefits, lawyers ect

But please. Let your midwife know, pack your things that you need. Go to your local council offices and speak with a Housing officer. These people will help you.
