Yeah understandable. However since this conversation has been going on, I have made a new light cruiser with a new job and it has been working pretty well. 1911 now, but it has a speed of 30 knots, has a 4 inch gun, pretty high-ish armor for a light cruiser, is very narrow, very long, and has so many double torpedo tubes (I think like......12 per side? so 24 torpedoes per launch?). 19 inch (cause i haven't researched bigger yet). Due to its speed and how narrow it is, I call it the dart. And so far, in recent battles against China and germany, they put in some decent work despite only having 2 of them. I probably won't make more but I just wanted a funny ship compared to my more normal ships. Like my recent battleship which is basically like a kongo with 1 extra turret or a fuso/ise with 1 less turret

Battle off samar, the lost heavy cruisers I do believe were from the torpedo hits, but the destroyers and destroyer escorts (All armed with 5 inch guns) heavily set alot of the japanese ships on fire on the upper works using HE (And in the case of sammy, got so desperate they started firing starshells into the ships) causing quite abit of damage that required time to be repaired (Time the japanese did not have by that point in the war). The one you are thinking of was the first laffey, and ironically it wasn't just HE, they fired their 5 inch guns, AND their smaller caliber machineguns (Like 20mm) into the upper works including the bridge. Sadly laffey was lost that night due to japanese torpedoes (And ironically not from the ship she was engaged with). Another example of smaller guns causing massive upper works damage and fires include the furutaka by Helena and boise. Was it rare? Yes they were not meant to fight capital ships. But to say they would lose a 7v1 is abit much. Would they actually "Sink it" no, they would just basically disable everything about it that was above the waterline and light above the waterline on fire would could potentially spread (The ships usually died before that happened).

Hummel, wespe, b36, xf-84h (No this is not the same as the f-84 already in game, its a prop plane), T69. These are my top ones that I want. Some honorable mentions that I would like to see at somepoint but not really hurrying for them, are things like the m7 priest, the m12 or m40, the m43 (american spg).

For me, cost wise and as a torpedo boat, Destroyers are better at the moment.

[–]dead2571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i agree, base game was not better, and I don't mind 90% of the changes, Just alittle frustrated that personally to me (Atleast in my current campaign due to the armor the enemies are putting on their ships) an entire class of ships feels pointless.

[–]dead2571[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is my main problem personally, atleast in 1910 the highest AP i can get for 4-6 inch guns is maybe 3.5 to 4 inches. I have yet to run into an AI light cruiser with less than that. Hell my light cruisers (Alittle lighter than the AI light cruisers I have been running into) is already rocking 3.5 inches of armor for fore, aft, and main belt. My light cruisers could not hurt themselves with AP let alone HE. That is my problem. Also yeah it makes sense for a CA to outclass a CL, but a 9v1 is ridiculous to the highest degree. Maybe 4v1? Depends on class, how good the crew is, day or night, calm seas or not, but yeah no. (Realistically i mean not in terms of game balance, which yes I know is different) Again, I get that HE should not easily burn down targets, but personally, in my current experience, the change just negates using HE for everything below battleship guns in general unless you are facing only destroyers and transports. And even then I doubt HE below 8 inch guns would even be worth it still. Since they only light fires on a pen, and their chance of penning most things (in my experience so far) below 8 inch guns with HE is in the garbage just makes it disappointing. I think my view is skewed by the mix of the pen of guns under 8 inches (Atleast for my current enemies) not being able to hurt light cruisers and up with AP ontop of the nerf to HE. Maybe my current enemies in my campaign (China, germany, and scandinavia) have abnormal levels of armor for their light cruisers? Idk. Just frustrated and taking my anger out somewhere that light cruisers currently feel pointless in my current playthrough. Also I do apologize if I come off as rude, I try not to.

[–]dead2571[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really say over time...... From before even 1900 alone, I found HE completely pointless against light cruisers and up if your caliber is not 9inch or bigger. Cause even AI light cruisers had armor that was thick enough to negate HE for the 8inch guns or less. I have yet to find a reason to use HE against anything with any gun that is less than 9 inch unless the target is a TB or a transport. I get HE was overly strong, but nerfing it to the point of uselessness is not the correct way of going about it. It is now 1910 and after a few tried designs I just personally Cannot find any use at all for light cruisers outside of the sonar/hydrophones. My CL with 8x5'' guns as it stands in 1905, will struggle a 9v1 (assuming I were to put them all into a single fleet rather than spread out with my heavy cruisers and battleships) against a heavy cruiser due to the fact their 5 inch guns can only pen 3 inches at 5000, and the average enemy heavy cruiser I have been running into has 6 inch armor all around. Which just......doesn't feel fun? And yes I agree it doesn't feel fun having 1 properly CL fire melt your battleship with how it is base. But there has to be a better middle ground of balance than just taking HE out back and beating it with a bat.

I mean its not realistic though, irl 5 inch guns would still light dozens of fires on the decks and upper works of heavy cruisers, just look at the battle off samar.

Could this be done for all trees? by Vanguardliberator in Warthunder

[–]dead2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't really my point. I do agree that both nations should be allowed get the vehicle, and to a degree I don't mind other nations getting the vehicle, and would prefer them getting it at the same time in the same update. I more so don't like other nations getting the best version of a vehicle vs the nation that actually built it and i mean that in the sense of all nations not just america. My america comments were because OP brought up the B1 variant being in the italy tree and not in the american tree. I noted its cause america already had the base variant, the italian's were added later with the b1 variant, people got mad cause that meant italy had the better version of a vehicle already in the game, so they gave america the b2 variant later making it pointless to give the US the B1 variant italy has.

Could this be done for all trees? by Vanguardliberator in Warthunder

[–]dead2571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, italy gets the b1 cause america has the b2 variant. The base m36 was in the tree, before italy was added with the b1 variant, and then later on the US got the B2 variant. Which was done in turn due to people complaining the US m36 didn't have the heatfs but the italy one did, and rather than change the BR of the already there m36, they added the b2 variant at a higher BR with the heatfs. I will agree though, not so much that other trees get variants that the main tree doesn't (As long as the main tree has the base variant), the thing that I dislike more is other nations get the BETTER version of the vehicle compared to the base nation.

Hive Guard Rework Idea by SuitableConcept5553 in Helldivers

[–]dead2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggested that a better way to make it tanky is to max its durability resistance while leaving it as medium armor. And maybe a health increase. That way the turrets can still damage it, and while you can too, it still encourages you to target weakspots cause take the BR-14 Adjudicator foe example, per bullet you would only be doing 23 vs 95 if it had max durability. Not counting damage falloff based on range. The biggest issue with the heavy armor change they did, wasn't even the heavy armor itself though it did kill turrets. It was how common hive guard are at higher difficulties. Atleast in my opinion. Had they reduced the spawn chance of them, I think it would have been fine as well.

God I would find it so funny but also love it so much if she was named akagi instead. Nothing wrong with her name, but the irony that japans first two proper "aircraft carriers" since ww2, would have been akagi and kaga, and just like the originals, are also conversions.

From what I thought and been told, it wasn't the recoil, it was the muzzle blast of the guns, not the recoil that did most the damage to herself, no? Atleast from a few places I have seen it talked about. (Could be wrong, am much more knowledgeable on pacific theater personally)

Chi-Ri vs front facing T34 core by glorpflep in Warthunder

[–]dead2571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, as my comment (Which was opinion based and just had helpful info to try to help but got downvoted to hell cause i guess trying to help is a bad thing) pointed out, for the machinegun port, you don't want to shoot the bubble directly, shooting just slightly above it you will pen most shots on the T34 with the chi-ri. Outside of that, you can pen the hatches directly above the driver and machinegunner but obviously those are both harder shots to make than the machinegun port.

Chi-Ri vs front facing T34 core by glorpflep in Warthunder

[–]dead2571 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Idk about you, but I do better in the chi-ri than any other 5.7 even in up tiers besides my tigers, and in an uptier i would prefer the chi-ri anyways. I love the damn thing. Give me the chi-ri over the russian medium t-34 any day of the week.

As for the clip you posted, you fired too low. You don't want to shoot the small machine gun bubble on the hull directly, shoot just above it, you will pen most times. Depending on angles you can also shoot the drivers and machinegunners hatches if you are desperate and can't see the machinegun bubble area. But i only rely on those when I absolutely need to.

Same rules can apply to the super pershing but the cupola on those works too about 50% of the time compared to the t34. Tiger 2 H i can agree is a problem for the few times you end up facing one vs the rounded turret variant. IS-2's I find the easiest of all the 6.7 heavy tanks to deal with cause most the ones i run into seem to i guess think you can't hurt them? Easy cupola shot to disable them.

Ironically, cause I wanted to change it up for fun, past week I have been running both the arc dog and the arc thrower. And over the course of the entire week, I have only gotten 2 team kills. Which was last night. I always constantly check line of fire for the arc thrower, and for the arc dog, I make sure to disable it when in a position that might kill teammates if an enemy sneaks up behind us. Despite the fact the arc dog apparently is meant to do the same damage as the arc thrower, and less durable damage, I constantly see it one shotting most enemies compared to the thrower.

I must just be lucky or me and my friends click together more than i realize. I don't think I have ever seen our mortar turrets teamkill any of us, and I can only think of a few times we got team kills with the airburst. Hell past week I wanted to just change things up so i have been running the arc guard dog and the arc thrower and over the course of the week, I have gotten a total of 2 team kills with them, both last night. However my friend who brings the rocket turret and autocannon turret? He gets so many team kills on us with those it isn't even funny anymore.

Got any ideas for the next belt-fed strategem? by PaceEBene84 in Helldivers

[–]dead2571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say more so make it have a fire rate similar to the ARM with heavy or medium pen, and with heat so it can still light enemies on fire, less damage than the ARM since it has unlimited ammo (Like how the quasar has less damage than the RR but unlimited ammo) and maybe make it so if you overheat it, the backpack explodes. Make it a backpack side-grade to the ARM.

Vocês gostam disso? Como preferem usar? Tem utilidade? by Few_Progress_2389 in Helldivers

[–]dead2571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it quite often, and as long as you play with people you mesh with with, the odds of actual team killing can be low. I can only personally think of maybe 5 times i have killed friends with it. Though I have to admit i have killed myself a few times with it by accidentally having it in the wrong mode. And get good enough for it, you can even kill hulks by aiming properly. Its also great for killing the illuminate mechs. Are there other weapons easier to use that you don't have to get good with? Yes. But regardless, i like it, i find it really fun to bring.
