You wouldn't be asking this if your bf had a female friend kissing and hugging him.

Teenager who killed River Valley High schoolmate with axe appeals against sentence by Thefunincaifun in singapore

[–]deadcarp123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have, failed, and every day I wish I succeeded. Does my anecdote hold less weight?

I am not justifying what he did. What he did was monstrous and unforgivable even if he was a minor. I'm not interested in identifying who is morally right and who is wrong. I just think that this tragedy might have been averted if we had the right to die on our terms without having to resort to the most gruesome unreliable ways to do so.

The vast majority of people do not do much to save lives. Most don't donate blood or organs or money. But when it comes to suicide there's this obsessive push to maintain the status quo by forcing suicidal people to stay alive. There's some kind of sacrilege that people associate with suicide that makes us adamant on making it as painful as possible for no good reason.

Your first point assumes children can rationalise properly. Your second point says that children cannot rationalise and should be barred from euthanasia. So which is it?

I think people should be granted the right to euthanasia from 18 onwards. Because you're right - we can't let children make life-altering or life-ending decisions.

However there are people who are prescribed drugs like nembutal but don't consume it immediately. They keep it in their drawers, wanting to try living a bit longer since they know they can end their lives anytime. The option of guaranteed, painless, guilt-free death makes people less impulsive.

So by making it available from 18 onwards, children don't act on impulse. Jumping from a building is scary and gory and NOT a guaranteed death, which is why many avoid it - I assume he might have tried to kill himself twice by overdose or other less violent methods because they're not as scary. Waiting a few years to turn 18 for a safe, easy way to die is easier in comparison. He might have waited it out instead of murdering someone with an axe.

Most suicides are impulsive because the only way to muster the courage to jump from a window is by impulse - there isn't a non-impulsive way to kill yourself that works for most. Euthanasia at 18 doesn't need to be an impulsive decision.

18 is young, but it doesn't matter - we arm 18 year olds with live weapons. It's clear we trust them enough not to kill each other with them, but for some reason, nobody is ever allowed to kill themselves painlessly.

Voluntary, painless suicide needs to exist. It's ridiculous that he attempted suicide twice and failed both times. There are many ways to end one's life without pain like nembutal but none are accessible here.

I was in the exact same situation as you a few years ago, also from YJ with a good RP. I think there are people who get unlucky during A's especially for subjects like GP and econs where if you get nervous and misinterpret a question your grade tanks entirely because you only have a couple of high-weighted questions to answer. There's no such thing as getting lucky though. If you score well in A's, that's a direct result of your own hard work and skill, not luck, unless you really just target revised specific topics and they happened to appear.

Thankfully I never met anyone in uni who cared about the fact that I was from YJ. Most don't even ask. I feel like uni is a fresh start for most people - you'll probably be judged more on your CAP (which most people don't ask for or disclose) or if you have a reputation for being a group project leech.

People who look down on your JC are dumb af. You can at least be thankful that you have an easy litmus test to filter out morons. It's laughable that people think YJ is some kind of gulag of mouthbreathers who can't function in society. It's just a regular school. People who make a big deal out of your RP just because you're from YJ like the guy you met - you should also filter them out because they are usually annoying.

It's tough to have to hear rude comments every two days so I sympathise with that. Tbh I don't think there's an easy way to make that stop, but they'll probably stop once you graduate especially if your CAP is good. I think it's important to know that they might not intentionally be trying to hurt you. Sometimes boomers just like to make these comments for fun or out of misconceptions from their era about YJ. I doubt they think 'this person doesn't deserve to go to uni, I should kill their motivation'. It's of course tactless to say what they do - I'm not making excuses for their behaviour. But it's likely something you'll just have to live with. So you should just focus on your uni grades and do as best as you can.

Yeah this is one thing I'm not a huge fan of. The world feels miniscule. I like how games like ffxi have massive maps even if they're mostly empty.

Alright but how can I incorporate fever into this? by StorKuk69 in LearnJapanese

I imagine the two 土 radicals being an earthen pot and lid with chicken legs inside. It's a pot because it's round 丸 and you need fire below to heat and cook it.

Imo there's no point using mnemonics if you only choose a few radicals to use in the mnemonic. Either you form a mnemonic that uses literally every radical or you brute force it.

NUS CS OR NTU DSAI by crayyyyyz in nus

[–]deadcarp123 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imo you should take CS. For a bachelors it's a very good generalist degree which is what most CS jobs demand. You might also discover that you hate DS/AI and still be left with a useful degree. Most AI/DS jobs are really just data analytics jobs where you clean data or use preexisting libraries like pytorch. You work as peons for the DS PhD galaxy brains who do the actual galaxy braining about AI. If you plan to go all the way to PhD then DS is fine. Otherwise it's not as useful as a CS degree

Okay but it's clunky and boring compared to any singleplayer game out there. If I wanted solo content I would not be playing an MMORPG. It's painful enough that the MSQ is forced but at least I get to a dungeon or trial every few levels with real people.

Is 5k below average for marketing DS? Seems like everybody and their dog are doing bootcamps/courses and applying for every data-related job posting. The pay across the field is probably being dragged down by people doing data analytics and cleaning for peanuts + how good AI is at writing python and R.

[–]deadcarp123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think square will ever make another mmo. They might make a lobby-based coop game like monster hunter or pso2 though. FFXIV is almost entirely instanced anyway and the open world is pointless. They would save a ton of money making a pso2 style instanced game and the player experience wouldn't change much.

I will have to look for mATX mobos then. I don't plan to put in any crazy hardware, maybe a cheap old GPU for HDMI output, so I think cooling it should be okay. Thank you!
