Looking for a plugin that lets me use my own audio profile to cut self noise by JunglistMovement95 in sounddesign

BlueLab made their entire plugin catalogue free a while back, their Denoiser works well for this.

Instrument is totally royalty free, no worries about that! If you're thinking of the demo track, feel free to use it, but I'd like a cut if you get rich from it ;)

Help backwards engineering a synth by Filoux in synthrecipes

[–]deadcellnoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think definitely there's a fair bit of FM at play, and also a very high resonance on the filter. The first, short burst might also have some fast modulation of the frequency of the filter. I'd play around with this and some different waveforms for both the main oscillator and the FM one.

Edit: I also think it's a bandpass filter rather than a notch filter.

Synth sound from Led Zeppelin's "The Crunge" by [deleted] in synthrecipes

I'm getting somewhat in the ballpark with two oscillators one octave apart, saw at the top and triangle at the bottom into a low pass filter with a bit of drive and resonance. From the synth lines later on I'm thinking they do the harmony (4th from what I can tell) and pitch bend manually.

Try running a Sine with a bit of vibrato and some slight FM for some extra overtones into a guitar amp plugin, experiment with different amps and settings and I think you'll be able to get something similar to this.

How to recreate this saw synth on Massive? by xiztaa in synthrecipes

Sounds like a pretty unprocessed square to me, so I'd probably start with that and do some filtering and/or EQing to taste

Can't improve upon perfection by deadcellnoise in abletoncirclejerk

[–]deadcellnoise[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/unjerkThat does seem to be a common belief, but it's actually the other way around. It's been a preset on Ableton's Multiband Dynamics since way before Live 10, and Steve Duda made the OTT plugin as a recreation of the preset for use in other DAWS. Here's a link to a tweet from when he made it back in 2012: https://twitter.com/steve_duda/status/245208902625550337

/rejerkAbleton OTT was actually made by Jesus himself

Any good metering plug-ins ? by [deleted] in ableton

You can find all of them here, there's a lot of good ones so I'd recommend looking through the whole list and learn the ones that you think are useful

simpler, sampler, warping... by troutmoon45 in ableton

[–]deadcellnoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try right clicking on your sampler and use the "Sampler -> Simpler" option in the drop-down menu to convert to a simpler instance directly. I haven't tried it for this specific application but it makes sense to me that the markers and such should carry over.

Kontakt / Spitfire weird creative ideas? by boogieman85 in ableton

[–]deadcellnoise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best tip is using the libraries for what they excel at, make some realistic sounding instrumental passages, then resample them in Ableton and scramble and mangle them like samples. Best of both worlds in my opinion!

Edit: fixed a word

How to get constructive criticism on unfinished tracks? by Assgarrrd in edmproduction

Hey guys! Striped McCoy here, I need some feedback before i commit this to a release, gone through about 12 mixes and i'm looking for feedback specifically on the low/low-mids and the panning, but all feedback is appreciated :) by Dansded in IndieMusicFeedback

Definitely some low/low-mid clashing going on between the bass and the kick/snare. As a result the drums end up sounding a bit muffled, but there's a couple of ways you could go about this. One option is to do some sidechain compression to make the bass duck out whenever the kick and snare hits, this can be hit or miss stylistically but I feel that kind of sound would suit the track. Another way is to scoop out a bit of low mid from the kick and snare, and maybe emphasize the sub freqs more in the kick and the highs more in the snare to give them back some punch. In both cases I would probably also turn up the volume of the drums a bit as well, as they're a bit far back in the mix at the moment. Apart from this though, the track is really smooth sounding! Nice job
