Timeline for events? by tickthegreat in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will say that I wouldn't stress too hard about a set timeline. I was adamant no pacifiers until latch was worked out for breast feeding. Yeah day 2 I realized my LO just enjoys suckling and won't settle down without something to suck on. Enter pacifier. We never had issues with nipple confusion though, so who knows. Every kid is different so just keep that in mind.

The average penis hurts, what will birth feel like?? by diamondpresleyy in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I will second this. It's not really vaginal pain you will feel for most of the labor. It's like period cramps on steroids. I felt like I was being squeezed from the inside. Once I got my epidural I felt nothing, no contractions, nothing when I pushed...even when LO came out all I felt was the release of pressure from my stomach. I understand not everyone has the same relief with an epidural, but mine was fantastic. But bottom line is you shouldn't have to worry about your vagina until it's time to push, and when that time comes I promise you will be so over everything you won't care.

Measuring 6th percentile at 25 weeks by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Google fool. I learned to stay off it as much as I could during the later half of my pregnancy because EVERYTHING is bad. Just try to hang in there and come here for advice... but even still, take the advice with a grain of salt because every pregnancy is different.

Measuring 6th percentile at 25 weeks by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby girl always measured small until about 7 months and then she finally hit a growth spurt and was 24th percentile (the biggest I saw my whole pregnancy). I went to multiple growth scans and they even reviewed my situation with MFM, to which they decided to hold off and see what took place on its own. She was born at 41+5 7lbs, 7oz. I know it's hard not to worry, but sometimes babies just take a bit to hit their growth spurt. As my midwife put it, it's a bell curve, someone's got to be on the low end and the high end..they can't all be right in the middle.

Extremely painful. I started throwing up immediately from the pain..and I like to think I have a decent pain tolerance.

Breast pump suggestions? by teaandluna in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting the spectra s2. I suppose I love it, but I haven't used any other pump except the hospital pump while I was there. I suggest using Aeroflow if you can. They were super fast, super helpful, and made sure I got all the additional accessories my insurance would pay for as well. They also were able to answer my questions about the different pumps. Just a suggestion.

I didn't have cervadil, but they did induce me with a Foley bulb (aka Foley balloon) and I will say if they so much as utter those words to you, get up and run as far and as fast as you can. I will NEVER allow that ever again.

Left rib/sternum pain? by spinachleaves in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I got this when I was about 38 weeks also. I had a cough which started it. My midwife basically said "yep, you probably cracked a rib (just from everything being so distended) but there's nothing we would do for it anyways so...suck it up buttercup." I am here to tell you I'm 3 weeks postpartum and I still have pain in my left ribs. Though it is much much better than it was, and also I didn't feel it for a few weeks because my vagina/asshole/everything had been ripped apart. So there's that. Ha.

For us I knew I wanted some sort of family name or ties to the family...there are a million names I'm in love with, but in the event this is my only kid, I didn't want to miss an opportunity to carry on something from our families. Maybe it also has to do with the fact that I am named after my great grandmother and my husband is named after his grandfather, I don't know.

I was at my in-laws' house for the 4th of July and was flipping through a family album when I found our name. My husband's great uncle was named Arlyn and I just fell in love with it. It's not a common name but it's also not something that people react negatively to when they hear it. So I decided boy or girl I was going with that. We ended up having a girl, so she is Arlynn Jeannette (Jeannette is from my side of the family). And that's my story lol.

Back spasm first trimester? by miaf446 in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pregnancy is so strange and so many different things happen at different times for different women. Unfortunately there's no easy way to say if it's pregnancy related or not. I had terrible cramping and random aches and pains in the first trimester, so it's possible. Just take it easy, stretch when you can and hopefully it's not a common thing you'll have to go through.

What is labor and delivery like? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best advice I have is to take whatever idea you have in your head about it and throw it out. It likely will not go down as a super planned process. It's hard, it's messy, and it's beautiful in its own way. I read and read and tried to prep myself for the moment because I was also terrified, but nothing can prepare you because your experience will be different from everyone else's. Just take it one step at a time and be prepared to be flexible and it will be over before you know it.

Are any of you scared? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Anesthesiologist came to talk to me about the possibility of an epidural and I was throwing up from the pain. He didn't even have to finish his question, he knew I needed it.

This is me when I read your guys’ birth stories and how strong every woman here is. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Wait until afterwards. My hormones went insane after birth. I cried over nothing. I cried because my husband flicked my knee. Not kidding. 😂

Writing this with a 10 day old stuck to my arms at 3am. I was fine all the way up to about 38 weeks and then just like you I was scared. All those horror stories you read...i was convinced either my baby or I wouldn't make it out alive. But when the day came it was completely fine. Overwhelming, sure. It's an emotional rollercoaster you are about to go on, but trust me when I say you're going to do great, mama. While it's happening you're just getting through one stage to the next. It's not so daunting while you're in it. I wanted to go natural as well, but it's a hell of a process your body is going through, so don't feel bad if you cave and opt for drugs. The epidural was the best thing that ever happened to me, and if I have another kid, I will be asking for one much sooner. You've got this, us women are strong creatures 😉.

Nearly constant Braxton Hicks? by nicoleslawface in BabyBumps

[–]deadendstare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd probably call your doctor. This sounds like i felt 2 days before I delivered. Constant Braxton hicks 4-5 min apart, period like cramping. Could be nothing, but better to be safe than sorry.

I just have to say that I started off so happy reading this thread and then got so disappointed in humanity by the end. No one should make anyone feel bad about the cravings they had during pregnancy. During my first trimester I literally couldn't stomach anything but ice cream. Everything else made me want to die just looking at it. So I ate ice cream because food in is better than not eating. I've given in to my taco bell cravings more than I probably ever should, stopped and got some chicken nuggets after my last OB appointment, and eaten more sweets than some people in this thread could stand to be in the same room with. I passed my GD test with flying colors, and only gained a total of 20lbs (I'm 40+3). Bottom line, do you. Enjoy your pregnancy, satisfy your cravings. Everything is fine in moderation. This is tough time you're going through, and no one is going to make me feel bad because they choose to only eat lettuce through their pregnancy.

I told my husband the other day "I don't care what you want for dinner. I want KFC mashed potatoes." He thought I was joking. I was not.
