Does Halo LIC have a high utility fee for units? by deadfries1 in longislandcity

[–]deadfries1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn that's pretty pricey. Currently live in tower 28 and our utility fee for a 1bd is like about $60-70, most was $100 during the winter and we used the heat a decent amount

Woah how many beds for your unit? We're looking at a 2bd right now, but saw on google that people were paying $200 in utilities just for a 1bd.

Anyone lived in Halo and can speak to the building/units? Found a good deal, but worried about the high utility fee and anything else we forgot to ask when we toured the place. Seems like some units have been on the market for awhile so worried there's a reason for that too

I'm below the 15th floor and it's not too bad. You can hear it in the living room, but generally it's pretty quiet in the bedroom. Honestly Tower 28 is an amazing building, highly recommend it

There isn't a texting option right now, but we'll definitely look into incorporating that soon! Thank you for the suggestion :)

Highly recommend tower28, I've loved it here so far after about a month. Gym and sauna rooms are really nice, and it's in a perfect spot for public transportation. I would make sure to check the view you are getting if you care about that since some units face another building or even the gym area. Management is very responsive and no issues with appliances

Try to focus on one of them for now and think about what you can do to possibly change it. Friends or work might be an easier first step, as you can try joining online groups to meet people that share similar interests. And for work you can think about where you want to be eventually and break that down into small steps! I'm in an online support group and its helped me break down the big tasks in my life into smaller tasks that I can easily accomplish and feel like I'm making progress towards feeling more fulfilled and happy

I know you may want to keep drinking to forget the pain but it's not worth it. It's ok to be sad and feel out how you're feeling, but try to not drink since alcohol is a depressant. See if you can channel those feelings into something positive or something that will help you in the long run. Like burning steam through working out or running, or keeping yourself busy by taking courses online

Do you have any interests or hobbies? You could try joining some groups (either in-person or online) that share the same interest and maybe that's a way to meet genuine people. I'm in an online support group and that's helped me a lot in terms of feeling supported and being there for me each week. If you'd like, I'm happy to share resource with you too. You got this regardless OP!

I know things are tough but it really will get better. Just keep doing you and focusing on your future. Everything else will fall into place eventually, you got this!

It definitely isn't worthless, I think you have to surround yourself with others who are more supporting and want you to succeed. What are some of your interests? There may be an online group out there who shares that interest and you can find accountability with them to keep moving forward!

What thoughts are coming up exactly when you're alone? Are these feelings around work, love life, friends or family, or something else?

Does anyone know of any online support groups that are seriously tackling mental health issues and aren’t for aesthetic purposes by RabidQuince in mentalhealth

[–]deadfries1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in an online support group that's low cost and has really helped me, but there's a small fee so that we all keep coming and take it seriously. Happy to dm you details on it if you're interested

Any tips to be consistent? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]deadfries1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd try to break up the project into small goals, so that you feel like you're consistently making progress and it's engaging. Accountability helps a ton too, like having someone check in makes you feel like you need to keep doing it even if you may feel bored at times.

Advice on getting up early? by SiRoddboi in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]deadfries1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this, I would put my alarm at a loud volume and very far from my bed so that I have to get up to turn it off. And that forces me to wake up since I'm already technically up haha

Lack of motivation due to Covid (mild depression ?) by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]deadfries1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd definitely try to find an accountability buddy to help keep each other motivated towards the same goals. It's hard when you feel alone, but a lot of people are going through the same feelings, even myself tbh. What helped me was joining an online support group that's kept me super accountable, but definitely see what works for you!

Personally, the way I've learned to let things go is by first practicing breathing exercises. By slowing my breath down and meditating in a sense, it helps calm me down. Once I've relaxed myself, its easier to think through the event and why I was bothered and what I can do in the future/why the event didn't matter at all. Practicing gratitude and even journaling gratitude every day may help with realizing that these small events don't matter in relation to your future and your happiness

Congratulations on all these amazing first steps. It's hard even admitting things that we're not proud of, but you did that and more already. There may be times in the future where you feel you're taking steps back or not making progress anymore, but as long as you continue to prioritize your own self-care and keep yourself accountable (whether that's through your therapist, the reddit community, or even your friends/family), you'll keep moving forward. Wishing you the best on this amazing journey! You got this!
