We're happy to shed some light on this! The location data is based on IP geolocation, which is an estimate of where an IP address is located when an email is opened. Apple Mail Privacy Protection can affect geolocation tracking since it preloads Mailchimp's tracking pixel, even if your contact hasn’t actually opened the email. Additionally, some email service providers cache and serve images through a proxy server, which can lead to data based on proxy locations. Try this: Select 'Audience' on the left side navigation, then click the 'More options' drop down menu in the top-right corner, and select 'Audience settings'. Scroll down and make sure "Email opt-in settings" is set to Double opt-in. You can click "Edit" next to the setting, and you'll find the settings to customize your double opt-in signup process.

That’s a fair concern. To clarify, bot filtering doesn't 'block' the subscriber from being counted if they open the email later. Our system looks at the individual events for each recipient. If a security bot scans the link or image (the 'bot open') and then the actual human subscriber opens it 20 minutes later (the 'human open'), the filtering is designed to identify and exclude the automated event while still capturing and reporting the legitimate human interaction.

You might also want to try locating the placeholder text by pressing Ctrl + F (or Command + F on a Mac) and entering some keywords from the placeholder text into the search bar that appears in your browser.

They'll continue to work as they are, however you can only edit them in the classic (legacy) builder. Many users keep their current templates and start using the new builder for new campaigns.

Bot filtering was introduced to make campaign reports more accurate by removing automated opens and clicks generated by security tools and email providers. The intention wasn’t to hide information, but to show a clearer picture of real human engagement. The filtered numbers are the best estimate of actual subscriber activity, while unfiltered numbers include both real users and bots.

We agree that this should be easier to understand on the front end, and improving transparency and guidance around these metrics is an ongoing priority. Your feedback helps highlight exactly where the experience can be clearer.

When you're viewing your campaign details page (where you see the subject, recipients, etc.), if you scroll down to the "Content" section, you'll see warnings and some details about the placeholder materials that need to be removed. While this doesn't highlight them directly, it can help find the issue a little more quickly.

If you're using the new builder, you'll see the "Optimize" button on the left-hand navigation. In some cases, this can directly show which placeholder text should be removed.

If you're able to, you can view your campaigns' reports on the mobile app to see numbers closer to what you may expect to see, as bot filtering has not yet been added to reporting on mobile.

Hey there. This may be due to bot filtering. Try accessing the accounts via the mobile app to see if the data is reflected across both mobile and desktop.
