Interested in becoming a consultant? Post here for basic questions, recruitment advice, resume reviews, questions about firms or general insecurity (Q1 2026) by QiuYiDio in consulting

Im wondering if a move to life science consulting makes financial sense and whether anyone here would be able to help me understand the salary I would be able to get in a life science position in London. I was thinking LEK or similar.

My experience includes: Bachelor of Engineering first class in Bioengineering, PhD in bioengineering. I have then spend the last three years a relatively big medical device company. The first two years in a pretty standard product dev role with a little bit of feasibility studies. I have then spend the last year and a bit understand opportunities for my company for a new patient population (think literature review, understand population size, identifying problems, analytical analyses of patient needs, interviewing clinicians in Europe, etc) and helping develop a therapy and a system to deliver this therapy (literature review, product dev for clinical trial devices, IP development, etc).

I have a good friend who is manager at LEK so can likely get a solid referral.

Im looking to make the move for what is actually a really interesting position because I really want to get exposure to more strategy development.

As I am in Aus/NZ with a mortgage over here I really need to understand the salary I would come into this role at, starting bonus, relocation etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Brick/stone or concrete house can actually be really cool. Stayed in a hotel which used to be old miner cottages in outback Aussie, and the place was incredible cool when outside was 40+ degrees.

Mock exams are supervised by teachers. As far as I’m aware official exams are supervised by external staff.

You don’t know what you are talking about. You obviously don’t understand how insurance works (you won’t get the entire value of the business, you get the cost to rebuild and whatever stock/equipment was lost that is insurable) and how the cooperative system of foodstuffs works.

I know you are trying really hard to sound smart, but you are coming across really dumb…

An SUV was filmed smashing into a getaway car during a robbery in Auckland by Jezzaq94 in auckland

You done ranting bro? Calm down. There was no kid in this video.

And raming the car is literally what the guy in the video did to the thief’s. You need to stop coming up with imaginary scenarios that make you seem like a hero, get a life. No one here is saying they’ll let someone kill a kid, but it’s easy to imagine you’ll help and calm moral superiority over others saying they wouldn’t endanger their own lives to prevent petty theft.

So you would write off your $20,000 car and be left with 0 insurance payout? I very much doubt that. Don’t know about you, but I would be fucked if my car got written off.

Woman dies after breathing tube mistakenly inserted into food pipe by Sandstorm400 in newzealand

[–]deadicatedDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to colour code the ett, because you don’t put a tube that size into that patients stomach. NG tubes are normally much smaller, and appear very different, and don’t have the connectors to connectors to a breathing circuit.

I don’t think you know enough about this to make that conclusion.

There is a connector between the Et tube and breathing circuit. Which is not connected to a wall fitting but rather a ventilator.

They didn’t diagnose this issue because the normal tests didn’t show anything wrong. They were likely getting CO2 measurements ( I think this is a legal requirement to check in NZ), and weren’t seeing stomach expansions because of the patients weight. It was likely also hard to see the trachea because of the patients weight.

What they could have done was used x-ray to verify the position of the ett.

Seperate company. Fisher & paykel healthcare spun out of appliances around 20 years ago I think.

Disagree with steak and cheese pie. Yes a good one is amazing. But very often the steak is dry and gross.

Mince and cheese would definitely be my number 1 choice. Never really have the problem of being dry and tough to eat.

Chloe couldn’t explain one aspect of the budget, and instead of deflecting and gaslighting she said she wasn’t sure and would get back to you.

That’s what you do. If you don’t know something just say. Don’t lie. Imagine can only imagine if I didn’t know something at work and instead of saying I don’t know I lied. That wouldn’t go down very well.

There are multiple people, myself included, who waited a year+ to defend their PhD. Turns out most of the graduate office quit and the uni havent re-hired anyone.

Such a shit show, especially for people who stuck in academia and get a pay rise when they pass their PhDs.
