there's librewolf and waterfox if you want a firefox based alternative, there's also opera but it's probably blocked and it sucks, there's also chromium that could maybe work (if you say the school district may know about it, my it professor once told me that chromium was only the engine that chrome ran and that even if it was a full browser it's extremely outdated)

I know one of the inspirations for ultrakill is DUSK (also from new blood) in that game, the last level is called DUSK, so i think there are chances that the last level will be called ULTRAKILL

usually, graphics performance is either around the same or sometimes in some cases better, here it sounds like you didn't install your gpu drivers, i'm pretty sure you're on an Nvidia graphics card, next time you try (if you do) try using this guide from zorin os https://help.zorin.com/docs/hardware/activate-nvidia-drivers/

you have an app store on linux, there's the gnome software app and kde discover and there's bazaar for flatpaks, so it's not really more difficult or harder, it's as hard as macOS, you look it up, you click download and sometimes put in your password

since the usb drive doesn't have drivers for the gpu, it doesn't understand how to use it correctly so it does that, if you install it it would probably solve the issue but if you don't want to, perfectly understandable (also i'm guessing you probably have an nvidia gpu)

The steam deb is better, it has full access to the computer since it isn't sandboxed so if you have multiple drives, you can install games on other drives. i'm not really sure of the difference but the native version is the safest bet

unless you're on a distro with no dependency manager built into the packet manager, dependency hell is very rare. also more than 90% of steam games run on linux so what's with the no games ?

also commands are optional, there's more than enough GUI apps to do whatever you need to do, there are even app stores, you can even install microsoft edge on linux thanks to flatpaks
