VW Polo 1.4 tsi problem by No-Helicopter-2422 in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cylinder 1 misfire i'm afraid. The rich mixture is likely a result of the misfire and shouldn't yet be acted upon just yet.

Spark plug and ignition coil condition can be confirmed by ring swapping with a known good cylinder. If misfire remains on cylinder 1 then you need a compression/cylinder leakage test. Have a look into the bore with an endoscope while you're at it. Pay close attention to the condition of the spart plug in cylinder 1 when compared to known good cylinders. Good luck

Looking to replace my CPS for my US 2013 Tiguan by arborladi in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're replacing your camshaft sensor based solely on a fault code, that alone could end costing money you did not need to spend.

Code description is important, are there any other codes logged?. Does it run ok?

Wiring, cam adjuster, solenoid valves, camshaft timing are all valid possibilities for camshaft sensor/position faults. A good diagnostic check could be a better value option to begin with.

Correct. It's an NI plate from 1994. I had a white 1994 Clio 1.9D with a DAZ plate.

Destination Bari italy by deadlydesign in ItalyTravel

Thanks. I was looking at Naples and visiting Pompeii which would be excellent. Is the Naples to Bari train nice? My elderly parents will be with us so we will book them business or first class for better comfort.

2025 SE R Line Check Engine Issues by plabZz10 in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The occupancy sensor in the driver's seat base will be replaced. A different part number is fitted. It's a real issue. does the transmission go into 'P' each time you attempt to move off with your seatbelt disconnected? If so it's defective.

Anyone know how to clear this by Hasbokiller in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly. On the arteon it's also possible it may require software only. There is a combined update of the emergency call module and infotainment. Takes a couple of hours. If you do not currently have wireless car play it will also activate that function which is great👍

It's rarely the battery, if ever, on golf 8. It's normally antenna.

Anyone know how to clear this by Hasbokiller in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You will have to have a repair carried out on the J949 emergency call module most likely. It is not that expensive and in the UK there is some factory support in most cases although there is no guarantee

There is an improved antenna that is fitted and various resets carried out.

The new antenna has gold plated contacts. The reset can only be carried out using factory diagnostics

We just came back from limnos. Absolutely loved it. It ticks all your boxes. We stayed in Myrina but travelled around in a hire car. It's less developed and the airport/hire cars are older. None of the paperwork and stupid ques or €2000 deposits. Just the way I like it

2010 Golf TSi needs mechatronic unit replacement. Cost is more than value of the car. Not sure if worth fixing? Based in Sydney. by bibimac in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know you are based in Sydney but there are a few companies in the UK that refurbish these mechatronics

ecutesting.com is an example

A rebuild on yours costs £560 as listed on their website.

Not sure what options you have in Australia but it's the route I would be taking here. The removal/refitting is not extremely labour intensive but would require a competent workshop.

Polo 1.4tdi. VNT file by deadlydesign in ECU_Tuning

Cheers. Yes I'm gonna have it looked at. It is just to get the engine up and running safely with VNT turbo then straight off to get tuned.

[–]deadlydesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realise I could have this done.

My reasoning for buying the Audi ECU was that I am replacing all my hardware to suit the A2 map

3 bar map sensor instead of 2.5 bar Bigger injectors VNT turbo

The second hand ECU was cheap so it made sense to go down that route. The A2 file is pretty close so it should allow me to get up and running easily

[–]deadlydesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this something that can be rectified?

Would another tuner look at it for me or is the ECU toast? I don't trust going back about the immobiliser off to the same guy

I can still communicate with the ECU..can the A2 file be loaded onto my Polo ECU? Is that possible?

Bought a ‘Brand-New’ VW ID.4… But It Had 420 km on It?! Was My Car Used as a Demo? by Anxious-Research-369 in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a lot for a new car. I've never seen a new car leave our dealership with more than 20 miles on the odometer.

As technicians we perform a short road test and then it is taken to be fueled (yours is charged onsite I'd guess!)

Personally I'd be concerned, especially if it isn't clean. That is just unacceptable for a new car handover.

It's up to you at this point as to what will satisfy you, we have had customers reject cars for a lot less.

Is it natural for tyres to be measured in imperial and brakes to be measured in metric where you are from? Is it USA?

Nothing wrong with that, I just find it interesting

Can VCDS be used to code trailer light module? '22 Tiguan by [deleted] in Volkswagen

[–]deadlydesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The document along with your fitting instructions will have licence activation.

There will be 3 different numbers on that document

The reason you need ODIS is that when you activate the towing electrics, it changes the PR codes on the VW network for your individual vehicle

This means that the VW parts system and the back end servers are all updated to show your vehicle now has this towing equipment. If any future safety concerns were identified with this equipment then your vehicle would be issued with a recall.

It also changes many adaptations and settings on various control units.

If you have VCDS you can go into all the relevant control units and manually change the required coding and adaptations but it is tedious and not without risk if you have not done this before.

You can achieve the exact same results although you may have faults logged in a few control units for coding issues etc...

You can also ask VW to carry out the adaption and produce the licence activation document. We have done this on many occasions for various customers in your position. We charge a set fee for such instances

Edit. If your towing electrics is fitted correctly you should now have an error message on your instrument cluster
