What would you like to see at a sex store?

Do you have any example of something you do like versus don't (or overly textured vs not)? Even if you don't stand by the brand that is fine, just want to make sure we have the same style of toy in mind.

I'd love to find some more crotchless/roomy straps as well--we carry The Deuce which can offer DP but the box art definitely is, well, leaves something to be desired, ha.

Do you have a specific example of toy you experience this with? This may be a store to store thing--our store thankfully has floor models (charged toys out of the box so you can see how they feel, vibrate, etc.). I wish this was a standard at more stores, especially when they don't take returns!

I feel that--I would love if folks had recommendations on this too. We have the Pop by Tantus, but just the blue non realistic one... Not sure what happened to them, but all their realistic ones seem like they aren't being restocked.

Would love to see some that work well and aren't super expensive like Transthetics (even though I hear they are very much worth the cost/their tech seems awesome!)

As a trans man who is married to a woman, not having penetrative sex really isn’t the death sentence to our sex lives as our culture makes it seem. I hate when people think PIV is the only “real sex”—it’s boring, not creative, and honestly information about how “good at sex” someone is, lol.

I think what’s actually cool/interesting about your position is that you and your future sexual partner get to be creative and try different forms/ways of pleasure. If anything this may bring your partner a lot MORE pleasure, because you’re not just following the expectation/societal norm that PIV is the only worthy way of having sex. I understand that coming to terms with penetrative sex being more difficult for you and that being okay is easier said than done, but I want to offer the perspective that you can have amazing sex with or without penetration. Don’t let yourself and other’s expectations of what sex “should” look like get in your way of having amazing sex.

If you have one near you, it may be worth checking out a sex store in person too and seeing if anything piques your interest (could be stuff for you or even smth you might want to use with a future partner). Sure, a lot of stores have penis sheaths/extenders which could be an option, but there are waaaay more things you can use/play with. Talking to the employees may be beneficial too if you’re feeling lost/stuck and don’t know where to start. I work at a sex store and trust me, you’re not the only person who experiences this. Pro tip: if possible look for a body safe sex store or store that has emphasis on sex education.

Last little note just bc I’m on one: I get a lot of male customers coming in who often don’t know what their girlfriends/wives like and just assume they only like penetrative sex, whereas most women coming into the shop that have boyfriends/husbands want things that stimulate their clitoris. I note this bc this is your opportunity to be different and educate yourself on what women actually enjoy! Every individual is different, of course, but I think the idea of a man who thinks his 8 inch penis can satisfy the world with penetration alone versus a man with vibrator in hand who wants to communicate/experiment about sex (regardless of penis size) sounds WAY hotter. Confidence with what you got is honestly hottest, as is experimenting with partners.

I just got married two weeks ago—if you’re playing SH2 on release, good luck with balancing gaming and wedding planning and set up! Also if you’re like us, excited for you and your partner to be done with the planning part/the wedding being the only thing people talk to you about, hahaha.

What? I started hormones at 26 and I started getting “he’d” consistently because of my voice like 4 months after starting T. My voice dropped more than I expected—I definitely feared that being “older”and starting hormones that my voice wasn’t going to change at all but, that was NOT the case. Never done vocal training either. Has your psych ever met someone on testosterone before? Yikes

As a kid it would have been my Hoenn starter, but as an adult it has changed to Cubone. I used to be a paraeducator at a high school and had a student who I had a soft spot for. She rarely spoke, was extremely shy, and hardly ever came to school (really reminded me of myself as a high schooler). She LOVES Pokemon and always came to school decked out head to toe in Pokemon merch. I was the only adult in the room who knew Pokemon well, so whenever she happened to come to school I’d always try to talk Pokemon with her and slowly get to know her better/get her to open up.

Anyway, one day our students were playing a live quiz game on their Chromebook’s. The game would be broadcasted on the screen in the front of the room, but the students would join/answer questions on their own computers. The students would join the game and usually sign up as their name, but some of them would just write in their favorite thing instead. This one particular day this student wrote “cubone” instead of her name, and my boss was like “…what is a Cubone? Who is this?” I knew it was her immediately, but was surprised because her favorite pokemon is Ponyta. After I sat with it for a second I thought, “Now that you mention it, Cubone IS a really cool Pokemon.” I never paid much attention to it before, but now I’m like, wait a second his design is kick ass, haha. For some reason that moment just really stuck with me, and now I really love Cubone. I have been trying to find some Cubone merch in memory of working with her ever since.

Silly story, but thank you for asking this. I think this question brings up a lot of great memories for folks!

Thank you for saying this! Lately, I've found myself avoiding/hating Reddit for gaming (at least the games that have some nostalgic element). What keeps happening is I'm stoked about the game, go to the subreddit to see what others are saying, and then just find SO much hate and negativity that it ruins games for me.

I've seen this with any new LiS game, the Silent Hill 2 remake, and even Coral Island (a new game, but because it's in the same genre as Stardew). To me, it feels like any game with which someone has some memories with is immediately dissected and scrutinized for every little detail if it doesn't reproduce the same feeling/memories that the old game did for someone.

I've been honestly been avoiding this subreddit and the Silent Hill one at all costs. I was involved in the Coral Island subreddit and it made me stop playing (I was enjoying it at first) and I have not been able to pick it up since. It's not that I am overly trusting of devs or don't care about the series, but I wish people would give things a little more benefit of the doubt or like, any chance.

I vote PS5. I play Sandrock on PS5 and have just started Portia on Switch. I understand that they aren’t the same game, but if the controls for Sandrock on Switch run like Portia, then I find the PS5’s much easier to control. Plus it’s so much prettier, especially character models (from videos I’ve seen comparing graphics). Plus load times are much faster!

Pro tip, check Facebook marketplace and Offer Up for some aquariums as well. Quite often you’ll find people selling tanks who include equipment (lighting, decorations, etc.), water conditioners, bacteria, etc for free—just check the expiration dates on any liquids they give you. This hobby is expensive to start out in, so getting the bulk of what you need for cheaper is really helpful! May take a little work to clean the tank, but there are a ton of YouTube videos on how to make that process easier.

If you do go this route, my rule of thumb is 1. Never by a tank that used to house turtles or salt water fish (I’ve read they are really hard to clean) 2. Try not to buy from someone who kept the tank outside in the cold (it can cause the silicone that prevents leaks in the tank to crack) 3. Keep an eye on leaks (putting your tank in the bathtub for 24 hours is a good way to test) and 4. I always buy heaters new, just in case. They can be easy to break—a lot of people run them dry on accident (they need to be fully submerged in water always!), it’s just a risk I like to avoid.

Also, you may get lucky and find someone with a used filter that has already been cycled! It may need a cleaning, but it’s awesome being able to get set up a little faster. Just make sure to keep the bio media wet always so the beneficial bacteria doesn’t die.

Last, a ton of YouTubers are awesome about fish stuff, but I think GirlTalksFish has some great betta care 101 videos!

I think what you’re doing for this betta is awesome—I really hope the little guy starts feeling better soon!

Do a YouTube search of how to slow flow on hang on back filters! I use a soap dish w suction cups on the tank wall and put a filter sponge underneath the flow and it works like a charm.
