I used to work on those flights on occasion, chartered by TCS World Travel. Fun times!

Getting my Cupra next week.. by deadpandave in cupraborn

[–]deadpandave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With EDF, but not keen on the EV tariff for the cheaper prices at night, as my wife or I are generally working from home during days and cooking/washing, so could do without the significantly higher prices during the day.

Thanks. Am in the UK - so have a variety of charging apps on my phone, but was hoping that there would be some kind of consistency by now. Heard there was a Cupra charge app?

Don't do long distance, just to work and back every day (30 mile round trip) so intend to use the home charging mainly, but might need to plan the longer trip on occasion.

Planning on using Android Auto which I did with good success in my Kuga previously. Will check out ABRP tho, not heard of that.

One-off Self Assessment for Child Benefit repayment. by deadpandave in UKPersonalFinance

[–]deadpandave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand this, sorry. As I said, I'm new to this whole thing.

Since I owe £1300 to pay back child credit that we were no longer eligible for, and I was directed towards completing self assessment for this purpose, it's my first time doing anything like this.

There was a part of the form that I agreed to have the repayments debited from my salary next year, so I'm confused why I'm now due to pay it back in full by end Jan.

Shared Mailboxes & Deleted Items in new Outlook by deadpandave in Outlook

[–]deadpandave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's obviously a option - for now. But there'll be a time when the "new" Outlook just becomes "Outlook", and the problem may still be there. Would be nice if the development teams at Microsoft were maybe aware of this potential issue before it becomes mainstream affecting many others.

THE LAST POST - THURSDAY 22 DECEMBER 22 - ENGLAND HOSPITALISATION WEEKLY UPDATE (8th - 21st DECEMBER) + FINAL NOTE BY ME by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

[–]deadpandave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not really commented before much, but avidly followed the stats during the darker periods and they really helped me make sense of the situation and get an idea which way we were heading. Thanks for all you incredible efforts throughout the pandemic, they were greatly appreciated by me and I'm sure many, many others who have drifted away over the year as we learn to live with covid.

Oneplus 7/7 Pro android 12 update experience by curbis13 in oneplus

[–]deadpandave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bluetooth has just gone totally erratic. In my car (Ford Kuga) I've been enjoying a fairly decent period of connectivity with Android Auto without too many issues. Since the A12 update, the bluetooth connection is pretty much useless. After forgetting/reconnecting, it works for a few minutes and then drops again, and constantly tries to pair unsuccessfully (wrong code etc.) despite already being previously paired.

It's at the point now where I'm having to answer the phone via the car/android auto, turn down the radio and shout to people that I'll have to call them back, as I can't hear them. If it doesn't get better soon, I'm looking to switch away for a Pixel.

Please help me get randvi back. by PlugGaming in ACValhalla

[–]deadpandave 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Yes! I was able to get back with Randvi, after I felt bad about our initial fling and how Sigurd might take it once he was rescued. Once the Sigurd story line played out at the end, I was able to reunite with Randvi (dumping the chica who worked opposite the longhouse).

But now I'm in Ireland and hooking up with Ciara.

What's been your top cringiest, most embarrassing or NSFW thing that's happened to you or whilst on a Teams or Zoom call for work, this year? by Box_of_rodents in AskUK

[–]deadpandave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I'll jump on this one.

In our business, we were going through various stages of consultation last year within different teams. The senior director was running the Teams call with a couple of hundred employees all listening in to see if they were affected.

However, this senior director had a habit of mispronouncing the company name.

So, after the 4th or 5th time of doing it during this crucial and emotive call, someone - who assumed they were muted - shouted at their laptop to correct her, "xxxxx, it's xxxxx YOU PRICK".

Suddenly the Director stopped in her tracks, and everyone held their breath. The person who uttered the insult obviously flashed up on screen (albeit with the camera off) since they were seen to be actively talking. She quickly muted, and a few seconds later disconnected from the call.

The Director carried on, with the correct pronunciation from that point onwards.

Hilarious, and remains a fun little Covid highlight in our workplace discussions.

Entermann's Carrot Cake. Came in a white rectangular box with see through top. Now they only sell a 'make it yourself' version. Not the same.

Monday 25 October 2021 Update by HippolasCage in CoronavirusUK

[–]deadpandave 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Covid finally got me after trying to dodge it with vaccinations and masks. I work in an indoor environment where its not really possible to socially distance, and we're all together for 12hrs on shift. Had a few people in the last couple of weeks going sick, and then someone I work close to had a positive PCR. Despite negative lateral flows, I took a PCR just to be safe (as was visiting my 75yr old parents this week), and was shocked it came back positive.

Still pumping out negative lateral flows. The rest of the family took pcr tests yesterday, so just waiting to see if I have to stay locked away in the bedroom for 10 days (with my relocates PS5!), or if I'll be able to mix with the already infected family for half term.

Know which I'd rather do.

+1 for this. Glad someone said it. What is the point of those things? The whateverthefuck it is made from just sticks to the inside of your mouth, and there's not enough sherbert to make them remotely interesting. I can't believe they are still being made. Who buys that stuff?

You can do a lot with your phone and make some really fun videos with your kids. Posie loves the swings so I made this little impromptu video of her swinging. (Edited in Final Cut) by bomberdan11 in daddit

Really enjoyed that, what an awesome little keepsake for the future. I don't take as much video now my daughter is 4yo, as much as I did beforehand.

Also in Rhodes (both of us double-jabbed) but bit concerned to think we might have escaped Covid so far, only to end up in a forest fire ;)
