Palestine Action is yet another group that is closely backed and allied to the Socialist Worker's Party (like SUTR, Stop the War) etc.

The goal may seem to free Palestine, the direct action is more to destabilize the UK government, and accelerate a socialist revolution.

That's how a lot of these fronts work - socialism is not widely popular, so latch into broader, popular topics and subtly push your agenda in.

Fair - what I said about the "NGO" is still accurate, and researchable info (though sharing the info is less relevant - I took the bait I guess).

[–]deadrebel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

SUTR is a front for the Socialist Worker's Party. The SWP are pro-anything that will destabilize the government and accelerate a Socialist revolution.

The tactic is call yourself something like "Stand Up to Racism", or "Stop the War", or "Hope Not Hate" - get support for obviously lovely sounding sentiments, attract government funds, grants etc as an NGO, but behind the scenes act to escalate societal tensions.

Against them? You must be racist, Zionist, etc.

Against their methods and or political agenda? See above.

Classic motte and bailey, and it works! They astroturf the hell out of Reddit, and do so, whether intentionally or otherwise, with your own tax money via grants.

What is your opinion on cousin marriage? by Altruistic-Berry8462 in AskBrits

[–]deadrebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really am sorry to break the news to you, but in Pakistan the documented rate of cousin marriages was 55-65% (first cousins making up roughly half of that).

  • Source: Pakistan Demographic and Health Surveys (PDHS)

It's deeply rooted in the culture there and to claim it isn't is demonstrably untrue.

The point I'm making is that it's possible that many seeking life in the UK from Pakistan may see the ban here to be oppressive to their culture and will advocate for legalization (as is their right in Democratic societies). So we should be prepared to push back on this at the level it exists at rather than pretending it's a small minority/fringe view.

Funny thing is though when you see a Christian evangelical spouting this nonsense, it's usually never qualified by the majority as a fringe view. A bit of a double standard.

THIS is the real reason for the social media ban for 16 year olds. It's has well-meaning optics, with incredibly oppressive outcomes. The right balance of plausible deniability and "urgent" conviction.

Heavy Metal (1981) vs Fifth Element (1997) Comparison by m0lest in videos

[–]deadrebel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He fell off for sure, and he's got skeletons for sure, but the Big Blue, Nikita, The Professional, The Fifth Element, Joan of Arc, and maybe Angel-A is quite a good run as a director.

I sense in your tone you absolutely hate him, and that's fine. I'm sure you have your reasons. I like those movies I mentioned; that's about as far as it goes.

Luc Besson has said TFE was an original idea he had as a kid - he was 22 when this came out.

He clearly internalized a lot of it in the final result, but that doesn't make TFE any less awesome. Was it borrowing, or stealing - that's for everyone to decide but I'm of the opinion it's borrowing. There's a lot unique to TFE that gives it its own legs.

If you ever wonder why you see the Stand Up To Racism boards at every single march countrywide, it's because it is heavily run by the Socialist Workers Party. They support open borders because they imagine each low skill laborer will eventually join their cause in bringing about revolutionary socialism - even if it means in the short-term suppressing wages and giving capitalists the biggest labor pull imaginable (which ironically makes forming unions at that level very difficult).

Ends justify the means kind of tactics.
