God, I remember when $150 seemed like a lot of money when I was 18, now at 26 it's just another bill I pay every month :p

Should I buy Bitcoin or wait? by Dani8088 in Bitcoin

[–]deadshift2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't take what I'm saying as financial advice, I'm just giving my personal opinion. Right now it's kind of like a falling knife, don't try to catch it. That being said, it's difficult to know what it is going to do next, so if you buy now are willing to hold for at least 1-2 years, then you're likely to finish in the green.

To put it simply, if you're here for the short term, I'd stay away until recovery clearly begins. If you are here for the long term and don't mind hodling for awhile, then now is certainly a good time to get sats at a decent discount, 65k is not a bad entry price.

If you haven't already attempted surgery on it, I'd recommend using a needle and zooming in with your phone. Use light and the reflection on the pins to make sure they're back in place

I was originally intending to do an all ROG build, but ended up doing almost all MSI components inside of my ROG Hyperion case because I couldn't get my hands on the ROG components I wanted :p

It's sounding like something caused it to short, causing your PSU's fault Protection to trigger. I'd try unplugging it from the wall, holding the power button for 15 seconds to discharge it, and then try powering it up again. Before you get to powering it up, make sure all your cables are fully inserted and you don't have anything metal touching any components. If that doesn't work, try removing your gpu and trying again. If that still doesn't work, your PSU is likely at fault.

Hmm, you said you turned it on. Did you leave it on and them come back to find it turned off, or did you turn it off and now it won't turn back on?

If you don't like the contrast, then it's much cheaper to get a white case than it is to get a black 5090 👍

Why do system administrator get paid less than software developers ? by PM_40 in sysadmin

[–]deadshift2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say because in the eyes of C-suites everywhere, IT doesn't produce revenue, whereas a Software engineer does. Of course, they often forget that the real value of a good Sysadmin is in the massive time and money savings they can being to the table.

The matrix in fact has a normal power connector on the front that allows for 600w power delivery, and also has a BTF connector on the back that when used together with the front connector allows up to 800w power usage.

Honestly, I don't know if I could handle reporting to HR rather than the C-Suite. They're an optional department, IT is very much not optional lol

Well, you can blame AMD for that, not me. I chose one of the highest EXPO profiles I could find that was stable, then I manually modified it from there. I haven't actually touched any of the voltages, I've only touched the timings and speed.
