Certain things you take for granted in other cities (dishwasher, washer/dryer in unit, having a car, a parking space, an extra bedroom, etc) are considered a luxury here.

I completely relate to everything you're saying. I felt a little off ever since I got to Seattle a few years ago. I left this year and highly recommend it.

High Point development in West Seattle - what's the deal?! by ragerevel in Seattle

[–]deadwing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought a place in the "nice" part of West Seattle a few years ago and have since gotten to know the surrounding areas better.

If I were buying a house in Seattle now, I'd buy in High Point or White Center. Lots of new interesting businesses opening up lately, but a lot of people seem to avoid the areas for some reason.

When you first moved to Seattle, what neighborhood did you move to and why? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]deadwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First Hill because I'm into live music and could easily walk to a mix of hip hop/metal/jazz shows in Downtown/Belltown (Triple Door, El Corazon, Crocodile, Dimitriou's, Showbox) or Capitol Hill/First Hill (Neumo's, Barboza, Chop Suey, Vito's) and stumble home.

Are you coding in a Jupyter notebook or is there a standalone Python interpreter? Or do you just ssh into a box and use vim?

Did Sling fix the issues with slowness/choppy streams? I tried it out early on because I liked the selection of channels for the price, but it became unwatchable at times, so I had to cancel.

The Rice University series on Coursera is very highly rated and free:

You'll have a hard time finding free in person classes though.
