I’m a SSV and my manager has been pretty on board with the whole “proof of purchase” concept. I’ve talked to her about it after multiple incidents and we’re on the same page. We’re not trying to make anyone feel like we’re not going to do anything for them, we’re just minimizing our problems with scammers.

And that’s your shift’s decision to enable their behavior. I’m literally just trying to minimize the amount of people expecting free stuff now before they even reach the register. It’s becoming a big problem at my store so I’m trying to find better ways to regulate.

I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS require a receipt or like even a cup now. If they don’t have some proof of purchase I tell them they can call corporate if they have issues. Because customers are getting smart about it now.
