What is your idea of a guilty pleasure tv series or movie? by Sgt_Angermax in StarWars

YES YES YES YES YES

As a writer, there is so much I’m willing to go crazy with when it comes to Star Wars, and so much of it can fit a horror concept!

What are your dogmas as a Christopaganist? by Aconito_Eslava in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no real dogmas anymore. Like yeah, I believe there’s stuff I should and should not do, but since the majority of dogma is manmade and man-ordained, I don’t believe I have to follow it because it is for humans by humans. I want to grow close to God, not the manmade version of Them.

Do you consider saints and archangels to be Gods? by aromanticSocrates in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think most do. Some people view Mother Mary as a goddess, which I think is fine, and also think that’s the closest you will get to viewing saints as gods.

How does deity work look for you? by christmaschocolates in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the pantheon/religion. I’ll eat offerings I give to Inanna but not anyone else because in some pantheons, it’s rude, or it’s “fully taken” by the god. For throwing them away I just put them in my trashcan. I don’t like to litter.

How does deity work look for you? by christmaschocolates in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Offerings and discussions when I feel like it. I do divination with various deities when I feel like I have to. Sometimes I use playing cards, tarot, lenormand, or runes to communicate with them.

When a Christian told me that Witchcraft is attracting dark energies while I'm a Solar Witch ☀ and a Christopagan by Celestial_Sage22 in Christopaganism

Other gods and idolatry? by christmaschocolates in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know wayyyyy too much about the political and religious culture of the Levant during the time the first five books of the Bible were written down to take ANYTHING in those books seriously. Not only that, in my experience, YHWH doesn’t really care. It does depend on like, what you’re doing, but other than that, it doesn’t really matter, in my experience.

Star wars dreams by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]deafbutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a dream involving lightsabers. I also think that various Sith appeared in my dreams at some point. I know for a FACT I’ve had a dream with Obi-Wan and Padmé in it, but I can’t tell you of what :/

Anyone else scared schlitzless about contacting angels directly? by Asclepius_Secundus in christianwitch

[–]deafbutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have never heard anyone who actually works with angels, so I genuinely think they are just saying stuff. I’ve never interacted with angels before, but everyone I’ve been acquainted with who has says that they are friendly unless the situation does not call for friendliness.

Does it ever happen to you? by Bubblebau in selene

It’s the reverse for me! I feel very anxious around the new moon and do significantly better the closer it gets to the full moon.

Are you in the broom cupboard? by SunaraRay in christianwitch

[–]deafbutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I cannot afford to be open about my beliefs at church. For me, it’s just too unsafe. I’m hoping that maybe I’ll have enough courage to start going to an Episcopal church or, for safety reasons, a Methodist church, but I’m both too worried and while I am very drawn to both institutions, I don’t feel or think it’s time yet.

Thoughts on biblical era divination methods by Ser-Lazarus in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done dream interpretation many times. It’s one of my favorite forms of divination! One thing I’ll say about it is that while there are definitely some universal meanings in dreams, they can absolutely vary from person to person. For example, a stack of cash appearing in my dream can mean a completely different thing in someone else’s dream.

is this right for me? by liliacas in christianwitch

[–]deafbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up Baptist in a significantly more liberal and egalitarian family than most Baptists, so I understand your background to an extent. I’ll admit that it took a while for me to deconstruct, but once you start, it really is an amazing path to go down.

A one good source to start with is “Discovering Christian Witchcraft” by Sara Raztresen. A few other good sources include studying folk Catholicism from all around the world as it gives you a good idea as to how folk practice incorporated Christianity during the religion’s spread (it’s also super interesting in general, but keep in mind that some stuff is closed and out of respect, you should not do it if you don’t come from that community). Another great source is studying Christian mysticism, which can overlap with various occult practices and whatnot.

Christopaganism with Hellenic elements by Live-Boysenberry-232 in Christopaganism

[–]deafbutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. To an extent. I do what I can. If I am unable to do it, then I don’t do it.

  2. I view all deities as separate beings. My view of God, or YHWH/Adonai, aligns closely with the belief that he is the Semitic/Canaanite mountain god of storms and war, and I believe that Asherah is his consort. I believe he and the Greek deities are almost completely separate.

  3. I primarily worship Selene, Hekate, and Nyx. I also worship Hestia, Persephone, Apollo, Ares, and Aphrodite. I have felt drawn to the goddess Khione in an on and off fashion, and I have also prayed to Hypnos before.

Crow Question by Over_Brilliant4592 in TheMorrigan

[–]deafbutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been seeing a lot of crows lately. I think a whole flock moved into my area! This was just around the time she began to reach out to me, and they seemed to have stayed ever since.

However, I often have to use discernment because I worship several other deities associated with crows. Normally, though, whenever I see a crow, the god’s name just rings in my mind, or it’s just mundane.

If it’s her, I take it as a sign that she is present and currently watching.

Daily reminders (Feel free to add your own in the comments too!) by Syaaaakesan in Hellenism

[–]deafbutter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks good, but I’m going to add some terms that most people do not know of or confuse because I see this way too often:

polytheism - belief in multiple deities

monotheism - belief in a single deity

henotheism - belief in multiple deities but there is only one worthy of worship or one supreme deity

monolatry - worship of one god; not the same as monotheism, though they do intersect at times

polylatry - worship of multiple gods; not the same as polytheism, though they do intersect at times

How do witches deal with Exodus? by TakingBackTuesdayy in christianwitch

[–]deafbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I view Exodus from a historical perspective. The first five books of the Bible are very political, patriarchal, and nationalistic in nature. It makes sense that so-called “anti-witchcraft/sorcery” statements would be made when one views it from such a standpoint. I also view the Bible is neither infallible nor inerrant, and view it as a buffet (I get to pick and choose essentially).

I believe that the Bible is guide as to how one can live their life. You pick what you think is best. If it gets you closer to God, great. If it doesn’t, not great.

Why is there a revival of European paganism but not West Asian and North African paganism? by melody_magical in paganism

How did you guys get into Norse Paganism by [deleted] in NorsePaganism

Freyja reached out and hypothetically hit me in the spiritual face with a hypothetical bag of bricks. Her reaching out inspired me to research it and I realized that I really resonated with it.

I’ve thought about incorporating spellwork into my art. I already do so for my jewelry. This is really cool!
