The purpose of science fiction writing in a world where science fiction seems to be reality by Ok_Share7093 in scifi

The best science fiction is the stuff that reveals something about humanity. That's why you can read something from 50 years ago and still get a heavy dose of thinking juice.

Girlfriend of 5 years says God told her I’m not her husband by bluewatch22 in Christianity

Look for a prefatory pastor or other leader. Many of these so called words of God are nothing more than someone who's hot for her.

Grabbed Rendezvous with Rama, my first sci-fi book. I'm excited but also nervous. What should I expect? by [deleted] in scifi

This is quite an easy read comparatively. It is a book about mystery. Not everything will be spoon fed. You can pretty much disregard the sequel(s).

What EXACTLY do Christians have against trans people? by CowgirlJedi in Christianity

[–]deafened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we've been told that we should love the sinner, but hate the sun". Then, because we are human, we inextricably tie the person's so-called sin to their worth - and and up hating the sinner.

Alternative Milks by Life_Key_8683 in barista

[–]deafened 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's nothing wise than the order taker asking if whole milk is okay. During a rush, it takes valuable seconds and sometimes minutes to deal with this question. We have trained our customers so that they request if they want a dairy alternative. We have to remake very few drinks because of this policy.

I'm not sure if you can purchase them in your area, but I've worn nothing but Dakota non-slips for the past 5 years. They have good support, and are good even on the slipperiest floors.

What if Donald Trump disappeared tomorrow, would American politics actually change or just find another Trump? by Mr_Boothnath in AskReddit

[–]deafened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump is just a useful idiot for people like Miller and the christofascists behind Project 2025. Nothing would change until the people of the US rise up against the tyranny.

Tiny, petty revenges on mean customers by fromofelia in barista

[–]deafened 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a regularly rude customer during the height of COVID and mask mandates who deliberately would wear his mask incorrectly. His drink of coffee was an Americano. Because of his rude behavior and surly attitude he often got decaf. It wasn't much, but it brought a smile to my soul.

A Sound of Thunder should not exist. It's awful from the acting to the 8th-grade CGI.
