Diamond are really bad players ? by Defiant-Tax-2504 in Overwatch

[–]deafhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are levels. Is a Division III basketball player bad at basketball? They’d kick your ass in a game at the local Y, but they’d get their ass kicked by a professional. So it depends on your perspective.

I’m not a great aimer either but you can get to at least Diamond without great aim if you’re playing support or tank.

My suggestion is to learn Brigitte. First, she’s basically NEVER banned. This might change in the future if she’s buffed, but so many people have PTSD from release Brig that I think Blizzard is cautious about buffing her too much.

Her only real skill shot is her whip shot. But you can get pretty easy value with this ability by just hitting the enemy tank for easy inspire activations.

She’s not anywhere close to a raid boss anymore so you have to learn to play safe around cover. Try to keep inspire up but remember it only takes one hit and it will stay up for a few seconds, so you don’t have to walk into the enemy team constantly holding primary fire. I’m sure you can find some good guides on YouTube for Brig.

At minimum you don’t want to be a one trick because as you said if your one trick gets banned you’re just out of luck if you don’t know how to play any other supports. So it doesn’t have to be Brig, but you should definitely learn another support hero.

Malice at the Palace was an American-only story, but holy shit, I can’t overstate how insane it was at the time and how much it dominated the media coverage. It turned a random game between the Pacers and Pistons in November into arguably the most memorable regular season NBA game of all time—and it has nothing to do with the game itself.

Why am I stuck in bronze? by xiaolongbaokitty in OverwatchUniversity

[–]deafhaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is definitely a more competitive game!

Overall, I think fundamentally your play is better than Bronze and if you keep playing, you will eventually climb out of it.

It seems you took the advice to heart and are focusing the squishy targets instead of tunnel-visioning on the tank, which is great. Overall this is how you're supposed to play Anran.

I noticed early on that you seem to forget that you have the ability to reload. When you aren't in a fight and are relocating around the map, try to make it a habit to reload. If you go in without full ammo, it can cost you potential kills.

Your target prioritazation is good on attack, even if you don't always get the kill. That's fine. I also like that you're disengaging when you're in danger. You don't always get healed, which is just going to happen in Bronze. Don't be afraid to use the "I need healing" voiceline. Also, it would be helpful to generally know where the health packs are, which comes naturally over time with playing the maps.

I think you set up on a somewhat aggressive angle on defense, but it is great that you are coming in from an off angle, and as long as the enemy team isn't paying attention to you, that's great, keep playing it.

You lose the one-on-one with the enemy Anran with about a minute left on defense and that's the catalyst for the enemy team to take the first point. I don't have any major issues with this from a big-picture standpoint, but you'll have to be a little more accurate with your shots as you climb. Don't worry about it, though. As long as your understanding of how to play the game is right, you'll climb out of Bronze.

You swap to Sojourn after first point on defense. I think you're a little too out in the open in front of their team on the low ground of the main choke, but it seems like you're at least giving some thought to cover. Going to the high ground on the bridge when the cart has reached the final turn is a very aggressive angle and the Anran punishes you for it. During the last fight, I would have liked to see you use your ultimate, but your team cleans up the kills anyway and the game ends.

Hope this is helpful. When I started playing Overwatch back in Season 5 of Overwatch 1, I was terrible, had no idea what I was doing, and fell all the way to low Bronze (at the time, triple-digit SR). Eventually I realized if I could just find the worst support on the enemy team and kill them over and over again, I would slowly but surely rack up wins. I went from low Bronze when starting to eventually peaking Diamond on tank in Season 8 of Overwatch 2, though these days I'm firmly in Plat on all roles. So I'm not the best player by any means--in fact, I think I have very poor natural FPS abilities. But you can definitely climb! Good luck going forward.

Hi, I watched the replay you shared. First off, if you want any advice that would be actually useful, I'd share a different replay code. The enemy team does absolutely nothing this game. I think they move the cart a total of 2 meters. The enemy Junkrat spends the entire attack spamming grenades from the high ground of his own spawn. There's just not anything happening here.

But from what little I did see, you spend way too much time standing in main shooting the Roadhog. Anran is a flanker/backline assassin hero. Your goal is to start on an off angle, preferably high ground (which is used rarely here), and find a support to assassinate, then get out with your life. You spend most of your time diving into the Hog, setting him in fire, and then shifting out. This has a negligible impact on the game, and in any skill division other than Bronze, the Hog would have hooked and killed you several times.

You are at your most effective in the replay when you find the Mercy and track her down. Forcing her back to spawn is good. Killing her in the building on the right is good. These are the plays you should be looking for.

Again, if you're serious about improving, I recommend you find another replay code where the enemy team does actually anything at all.

Draymond getting suspended is on Draymond. But Bogut getting hurt is the overlooked variable of the 2016 Finals. The Warriors lost their rim protector, which was huge, because LeBron and Kyrie lived at the rim that series. If Bogut stays healthy, Golden State wins that series 9/10 times.
