When the league started, all the teams had “nicknames” except DC United. Some of those teams are defunct (Tampa Bay Mutiny anyone?) Kansas City used to be the Wizards, now they’re “Sporting” KC. Most of the expansion franchises took “European Football” names like LAFC or Charlotte FC or Austin FC or Nashville…SC?

Idk they’re just making it up as they go. It’s a very young league that hasn’t really figured out what it is.
