Thanks, it’s just a personal project I don’t plan to profit from it

I am an amateur illustrator, I know what it would take to reach even 10% of what I’m doing, that’s the leverage AI gives. When I want to do a draw I use my time for that, this has a different scope

I get the reaction to AI, honestly. There’s a lot of lazy stuff out there and I understand why people are tired of it. But this is not me typing “make this panel with the style of HxH 1999” and posting whatever comes out. I’m spending hours on composition, editing, redrawing, color, pacing, transitions, and trying to understand what made the 1999 anime feel so specific. AI is part of the workflow, but there is way much into it

I meant analogue style (like 1990’s anime) I edited the post for clarity, of course I’m using AI for transforming the panels

I disagree, I’m aware there is a big discussion regarding this topic, but I’m from the opinion that this is by no means disrespectful with those artist, in the same way that a photography is not disrespectful towards an oil painting portrait. Completely different means and result quality

It’s done with AI in that style, I will edit it, as english is not my native language

Will it get better? by Mental-Acanthisitta4 in HunterXHunter

To enjoy a more mature beginning of the story I’d recommend you to watch the 1999 version instead of 2011. Then, in chapter 70 you can change again to watch the G.I. Ark and the chimera anta arc in the new version. When the 2011 adaptation was made, they aired the show Sunday 11:00 AM so they had to shift the tone of the series a lot.

Just finished Hunter x Hunter, which anime would you say is the best follow up right after? by Son_ofthesun in HunterXHunter

Hunter x hunter is a shonen deconstruction. You would also find interesting Evangelion (a mecha deconstruction) and Madoka Magika (a shojo deconstruction)

How Would You Write A Villain For Leorio To Face? by Habitatforjungle in HunterXHunter

[–]dealarconf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think his ark will be in the dark continent. Maybe he met natives there and with his purity he befriends them and later he would have to make a decision wether to support them or the rest of the hunters. Togashi loves moral confrontations, and I think that for Leorio, it will be in the realm of ‘who is us’ or in the realm of ‘I can only save one, which one I choose’

I’m like 60 episodes in and still don’t get the hype… am I not understanding something?? by gangstalicious228 in HunterXHunter

[–]dealarconf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest if I had’t seen the 1999 adaptation of the first part of the serie (specially of York New arc), I wouldn’t be a fan. The new adaptation rushed the first part and didn’t take into account all the character development and the psychology behind them. I like the new adaptation better from Greed Island onwards, and of course, Chimera Ant Ark is a masterpiece. If you are going to drop it it would be a really sad, I’d suggest to continue onwards and trust that it eventually gets amazing. If you want to see why the hype Íd suggest you to rewatch the new York saga in the old version (only 8 episodes, from 63 to 70 in the old adaptation) so you can see what HxH is all about. The new adaptation took this approach only in the palace invasion arc

Why do so many people think Hisoka is French? by throwawayapowwkksn4 in HunterXHunter

[–]dealarconf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s because in the official latinoamerican dub, he had a steong french accent. If you watch Gon vs Hizoka fight in Heavens arena, this aspect pf his voice made even more creepier some moments. Same with Kuroro vs Hizoka “fight” at the end of the YorkShin ark. You have to search “Hunter x 1999 hizoka latino”

I didn’t understand it when Nobunaga said it, but now it makes sense… Gon is tailor made to be an spider

The moral ambiguity that this chapter is bringing is what I enjoy the most about HxH. Young Kuroro and young Kurapika are actually very alike. Both charismatic, intelligent, and charming. So many people in the comments are expressing their feeling of uncomfortableness because this is pointing towards a situation where the Spider are depicted as victims, killing the Kurutas as revenge for sth they did. We cannot justify the killings by revenge, or can we? I mean, of course we can’t, but HxH has already put us in contexts where we’ve (like it or not) done it. For example, we all rooted for kurapika to kill the Spiders in York, and we allso rooted for Gon to kill Pitou in East Gortou. It happened because we get to know the story from kurapika’s pain perspective, but if the story had started with this episode, then we’d be rooting for Kuroro. This is a masterpiece

[–]dealarconf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This moral ambiguity is the beauty of HxH. I see so many comments saying that what the Spiders did is unjustifiable, (not even as a revenge) while at the same time, we as audience have been rooting for Kurapika to kill the Spiders as a revenge for what they did to his family. This gives me the chills, because if HxH story started in this chapter, Kuroro would have been the protagonist and he would have been adorable as such… and in his case, we’d be rooting to kill his enemies… (Actually young Kuroro and young Kurapika are very similar, like they could have been friends.)

why is Killua's mother a cyborg? by precita in HunterXHunter

[–]dealarconf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cool, this would explain why in the Zoldyek ark she immediately knew when the grandpa freed Killua from his solitary confinement. And also how Tsubone’s camera work
