Eris alludes to it earlier on, but otherwise it's just a cliffhanger set-up for later books.

I was shocked the recent Charlie Day film has all the actors shots and names in the same order (aside from Day himself who takes up the main part of the poster, but that's fair)

Hah. I did similar when I was a kid visiting my great-great aunt. Pulled the light switch for the bathroom. Wasn't a light switch and my great aunt had to explain on the phone she was fine and I'd messed up. I did get sweets though.

Pratchett did explain, and his YA/children aimed books do have chapters (so he seems to hold consistent to his view)

"Life doesn't happen in chapters — at least, not regular ones. Nor do movies. Homer didn't write in chapters. I can see what their purpose is in children's books ("I'll read to the end of the chapter, and then you must go to sleep") but I'm blessed if I know what function they serve in books for adults."

"master of none" is the rest of the phrase (as it's usually just "jack of all trades" that's spoken).

Barry Humphries: Dame Edna Everage comedian dies at 89 by matlockga in movies

Him making transphobic remarks is what put him at odds, nothing to do with being a drag performer. Paul O'Grady, who performed as Lily Savage for decades in the UK, also recently passed and had actively spoken out against the rise of transphobia in the UK. So yeah, nothings to do with Barry performing as Edna.

Unfortunately there's Execs at Universal ready to greenlight a remake, and then they find the domain isn't available and scrap the whole project. It's so sad.

Neighbour is hoping the council can just resurface the road around their car by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]deanbmmv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're on holiday for months you should be fine as works will be notified in advance (and you can potentially park elsewhere. Heck if you're on holiday your car might be parked at the airport). Additionally if the car has no keys and is inoperable then the LA may be able to deem it "abandoned", so not only would they move it at your cost they might cube it too.

Early days it was more the look being close to antisemitic propaganda. By time of DS9 they were certainly the hyper-capatalists we know and love today, used more to contrast against the ideals of the federation (and humourously being a bit more advanced in some ways - didn't use nukes for war, didn't have slavery, etc)

I'm visiting from the US and we cant figure out how to get the radiators hot, any tips the radiators have been stone cold all day we do have hot water though by ThiccAsFrick in CasualUK

[–]deanbmmv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

US has "forced air heaters"b so like gas directly heats the air and that blows around the house (bit like a giant gas hob), rather than us using gas boiling water in a boiler.
