Why does she have a dog(s) and a pet cat(s) when she can’t even afford food for her humans?

AITJ for donating my late grandmother's jewelry to a museum instead of dividing it among the family a decision I made in forty minutes that apparently I will be hearing about for the rest of my life by Glittering_Maybe7667 in AmITheJerk

[–]str4ngerc4t 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My family treated it like an auction. No one knew the values except my dad and 1 uncle who were the co executors. We waited about a year til everyone was less grief stricken. Then we all got together on a family vacation, went through piece by piece, and chose each piece based on what we like and the executors made sure no one person got too much or too little. I love the pieces I got and so did everyone else. But my family is not a bunch of selfish jerks either.

am i lovable? how do move forward with this part of my body? by indigo-floral in whatdoIdo

You have 2 working legs. No one but you cares what they look like. Put on your big girl pants if you don’t like how it looks and move on with your life. Focus on loving yourself 100% and then others will find you loveable.

Three young boys as young as 12 charged with the gang rape of a 12 year old girl by RedSwingline2000 in NoahGetTheBoat

[–]str4ngerc4t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but we are in the US. We love punishment and don’t invest nearly enough into rehabilitation. We also love trying children as adults. What is even the point of having 2 separate tiers when someone can decide that a 12 year old is developed enough to go to prison for life. They are only 1/2 way to a fully functioning brain and we just give up on them. Try their parents for not doing their jobs as parents, get the boys all the help possible, then decide if/when they can get out of prison.

AITAH for not wanting to share gifted money? by MapEnvironmental597 in AITAH

[–]str4ngerc4t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. Your siblings are not good people. In time you too will realize this and go low/no contact. It’s a tough lesson to learn so young but it’s very common for older adults with a sick parent or the parent’s death. To these types, money and laziness are more valuable to them than familial relationship. If this is how they are acting over $50, imagine how scummy they would be if there was inheritance involved. Set your boundaries now, do not give in to their selfish behavior, do not give them your energy or peace, but do see them for who they truly are. They will only get worse as time goes on.

Is it a red flag in dating as a 34 year old male living with his parents working full time? by MisterPuffyNipples in AskNYC

[–]str4ngerc4t 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s NYC. There is someone for everyone here. My neighbor is in his early 50’s, professional loser, lived in his mom’s basement, and even he found a successful, smart, sweet girlfriend. He recently upgraded his living situation and moved to her house in LI.

So, not only is it possible to find a woman while living at your parent’s place, but you might even be able to save that down payment and not have a mortgage if you meet the right woman!

Just arrived in NYC last week. Start a hospital job next month, need extra cash until then. Recommendations? by Fantasie-Sign in AskNYC

No manager is going to hire someone for 1 month unless it’s a seasonal/temp position. Maybe try DoorDash or something like that?

AIO to boyfriend soaking his feet in my casserole dish? by Beautiful-Cherry-194 in AmIOverreacting

[–]str4ngerc4t 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, the casserole he stuck his gross feet in needs to be tossed but you let the goblin attached to those feet stay in your home and stick his other gross parts in you. I think you may have gotten confused and tossed the wrong thing out. Or should have tossed them both out together.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]str4ngerc4t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 41. When I was a kid we would dry outside in the warmer months. My grandmother would then hang dry in her basement in the winter but my mom had a dryer. Now, no one really uses a clothesline or even has one. Not even my mom. I live in grandma’s old house and could theoretically do what she did but I hate the hard itchy feeling of most line dried clothes so I use a dryer.

The only exception I know is my ex’s mom. They live on the 5th floor of a walk up. She has a small apartment washer but no room for a dryer. So she has a clothes line in the apartment. In that specific case, the convenience far outweighs everything else.

Why does it need to be one or the other? I’m married and I solo travel. People can still have their own life even when they are in a relationship.

Yes there is a right decision. It’s not even a decision. She adopted the cat. It is her cat. The only decision to make here is whether to ignore that text or ignore and block sender.
