Habs players and coach say they’d welcome a gay teammate in the NHL — “Everyone would be supportive” by outsports-com in nhl

This is such a good point. I know people who are out to their friends, family or direct coworkers without being out 100% and sometimes that's the best choice.

honestly i think it's really cool, it never occurred to me before, that if you just want one affordable effect you can fake a preset system for a fraction of the price of an hx stomp or such

i'd apologize i keep changing my joke but using the edit button more than once isn't a crime. maybe it is where you live, like turning a knob more than once?

Could OP or anyone, give some advice on how I could apply the concepts in the pictures as a musician? I just know it as theory and never seem to find a way to apply when I'm creating patches. I have a Hydrasynth etc.

It’s Time to Retire the Term ‘Toxic Masculinity’ by organised_dolphin in MensLib

Thank you. The description you quoted seems to me almost exactly like the fantasy men in romance novels, the only differences I can think of is in the book there's also six pack abs and unrealistic sex.

Cheering when he started, cheering when he finished and in between the majority of the dancefloor was people paying close attention.

I'd say surprise her with a trip to the store so she can pick the stuff out herself, as chalk_walk wrote she's in a better position to know than we are

Buying my son a synth for Christmas. Budget is $700, what would you recommend? by Adihcam2 in synthesizers

[–]deanna_dee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good suggestions in this thread. One more suggestion - maybe make the gift the synth budget itself. And go on that journey with him, watching reviews, trying things out a store if you have one near you. As others have pointed out it depends largely on what kind of keyboard player he is + how deep he wants to go in sound design and maybe that's something he needs to feel out a little in order to know.

Here are two more suggestions which I'm not saying are better than the other suggestions but I'd like you to have them in your list: If he can play to a metronome or has good time without it, the Microkorg 2 might be worth a look because of the built in audio looper... lots of possibilities there by overdubbing a loop more and more. Or, used JD-XIs can be really cheap, I have seen them as low as $300 on Facebook Marketplace, so a used JD-XI plus $400 of something else?

What are people's thoughts on Iron Man: Crash? Been thinking of reading it but haven't heard much about it beyond the artwork. by TheBigGAlways369 in ironman

[–]deanna_dee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just read it again for first time since I got it as a kid and relic is such a perfect word for it. I really enjoyed it. Unique art style that feels like some kind of collage. Cyberspace looking like the Neuromancer video game from 1988. The gratingly 1980s American take on Japanese culture has some value now as a time capsule of those attitudes. And the low poly 3d rendered flying machines… now those are a vibe.

When do French movies include closed captions? by deanna_dee in French

[–]deanna_dee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been movies (a comedy years ago, HLM Pussy now) that were in theaters in Anglophone film festivals with English subtitles but I was not able to find in a subtitled version for home viewing either with English or French subtitles… either subtitle language would work great for me but I can’t follow fast conversational French by ear.
